I once bought my sister in law a beautiful pair of twisted stem bay trees for Christmas - unfortunately it snowed a week before Christmas and the frost killed them off not long after she received them - she never bought us any presents ever again!!! Ooops! 😮

The pressure of commercial Christmas stresses me out. I'd rather know what someone would like. We buy something we need for the house. I like giving pots with tulip and other bulbs in and a handmade card. I'm fine with a coffee out with friends as a treat gift.

At a prize drawing my husband once won an electric hair blow dryer and brush set. He’s balding. Everyone had a good laugh and he passed the gift to me.

I was once given a half eaten box of chocolates by a couple of elderly ladies I worked for. Other than that we ask son and daughters what they want.

Many years ago I worked with a lady who bought her parents an electric toothbrush. She was miffed when, three months later, it was still in the box, unused. Her husband pointed out that they both wore dentures.

I have a friend and she really insists of giving me 1 dollars gifts or regifts me trinkets ( she asks for plants from my garden or invites herself overnight to my country house). And I am ok with it most of the time. As I told her 3-4 times very clear that I don’t enjoy her gifts and there is no need to give them to me… last time I did something I never did and I refused her gift. Probably it was a first for her too. But no problems, she announced her visit again. 🤣So she is not upset.

I loved these vlogs. I agree with many of those gifts that I would not want. My friends and I have opted out of cards, gifts etc. We just don't need anything being that we are older. I also stopped gifts with my family except the kids. This keeps everyone happy, no one is expected to give expensive presents. I prefer the gift of their time. Clothes that I have been gifted were always 2 sizes to big. I guess I look bigger than I am, 😂

When i was younger my Dad bought me a pair of scissors for Christmas 🤦‍♀️ yes, scissors...I wasnt happy 😂 but actually i still have them years later! Dads no longer here and i treasure them now. I've enjoyed this video! Great fun 😊 xx

I find gift tokens a bit limiting so I give money, but with something like " treat yourself to some nice undies" or " have a nice meal" to show that I'd put some thought into it. Its up to the recipient what they actually do with the money.

My cousin once bought her sister-in-law a print of a painting of a bouquet of flowers that had a lot of room at the margins. She got some stick-on letters and spelled out, “have a nice poop!” She sneaked it into the loo and changed it out for her regular artwork. My oldest son thought that was so great, I bought a similar picture on eBay and made the same for him. Another time we got him a sign that’s usually posted in a kitchen, the kind that says, “Life is short. Lick the bowl.” and put it on the back of his toilet. It was hard to find one that didn’t have a picture of a mixing bowl. He thought it was great, too. 🚽

Ok, so as far as sweets for diabetics, my doctor (who had a Type 1 daughter) says there are no forbidden foods, just forbidden quantities. Perhaps it’s viewed differently there.
