Question, so you have to pay a reservation or earnest deposit then apply for mortgage? What if for some reason you get rejected for mortgage? Can you apply or at least check if you can qualify for mortgage first? Sorry but things are different here in the US since you have to get pre approved for mortgage before the agent agrees to show you houses.

That is a very good question! 👍🏻 The short answer is yes, you have to pay the reservation fee or earnest deposit agreement to apply for a mortgage. However, you can (and should) check if you qualify for a mortgage first. There are a few strategies on this. I will actually do a video about it soon.

Is the only way to live in Spain with the property you buy, by buying property worth €500k to qualify for the Golden Visa? Are there visas for non-retirees looking to live in Spain for a few years? My wife and I were thinking of buying one of the many ~€100k coastal properties we saw and just going to live there for a few years if possible. Is this possible, or will it only ever be useful as a vacation home since there is no visa to permits long term stay. We want to take a break for a couple years, were not trying to work while were there 😂

Unfortunately, this is a common problem for non-EU citizens willing to establish in Spain for a few years. I would strongly recommend you to take a look at the new digital nomad visa.
