Stocks usually fall right after I buy it. At least it can feel that way sometimes. But today was different. Richards Packaging (RPI.UN) jumped 6% an hour after I bought it as shown in the video. 😂

Great tutorial video, Liquid. I wished it also had in-depth information of the company earnings, etc. similar to the snippets you showed from TD.

Thanks Moe. I also wish it had those research documents. Maybe they're just more hidden but I haven't take the time to look for them yet. :)

Can you exercise options via the client portal or just through TWS or through both ?
@Freedomthirtyfiveblog2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I was not able to find anywhere to exercise options through the client portal. It's possible that you can only do it on TWS. If anyone else has more info please share. 🙂

Can I enter orders during the off market hours?

Yes you can. Your order will be submitted but won't be active or filled until the next market open. 🙂

This is recommended over 212 ?
@Freedomthirtyfiveblog3 жыл бұрын
Both seem like good platforms. It depends on what you're looking for. Trading 212 appears to have lower trading commissions in general. But Interactive Brokers offers more investment choices, and better research tools. I haven't used 212 myself but overall I would prefer IB's platform because it offers options trading. Also I'm not sure what the interest rate is to buy stocks on margin at 212, but I know IB offers one of the lowest margin rates of any broker. 🙂

@@Freedomthirtyfiveblog thank you, I just submitted my application in IB. Let me exposure n decide at one stage. I have to chose one reliable platform for long term holding. Since IB is one of the oldest platform, i would prefer this over any else .

are u able to short shares at the portal?
@Freedomthirtyfiveblog2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I haven't tried it myself, but I on the IBKR website it says you can specify your order Action as "Sell" to create a short order. The broker doesn't allow you to be both long and short the same security. So if you currently hold a long position and enter a sell order, you will close out any long positions first. A list of shortable stocks along with their borrow rates are found through the Short Stock Availability Tool accessible through the Tools link within the client portal. It doesn't say you can't issue a short (sell) order using the portal. I am not a short seller myself. If you decide to give it a try let us know if it works or not in the client portal. 😀

I keep getting stuck on the fact it requires me to know the social insurance numbers of my family to open an account.
@Freedomthirtyfiveblog3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Unfortunately it does ask for that, as well as employment information. If you open an individual account it only requires your own information. Do other discount brokers not ask for your social insurance number?
@Devinfrbs3 жыл бұрын
@@Freedomthirtyfiveblog they ask for mine only, not that of my beneficiaries. I also found the process quite buggy. There are off by one errors in the drop downs for income, liquid investments and net worth. If you select the first valid option or last valid option in the drop down, it will error asking you to make a selection E.g if you try to say you have 25K liquid net worth it’ll say “you can’t select that because you must have more than 10K liquid net worth”

@Freedom 35 Blog Today I logged into the paper trading side with my new account. Couldn't trade as the menu options were missing. Logged out. Logged back in selecting live account, and after logging in, it logged me into the paper account with all the headings. So far my experience has been..... less than stellar. Currently my paper trading account has a deposit button, which asks me to link my account like normal. So it's like I'm logged into a hybrid of paper and live account.

@@Devinfrbs I've had a similar thing happen to me before, I don't know what happened, haha. Looks like IBKR has some bugs to squash on their platform. Thanks for sharing your experience so others may know what to expect. 🙂
