Correct. This will only bypass the lock screen and give you access to limited information. If you are looking for password recovery then you might want to check out my videos on using the Gecko Toolkit. However that program will only work on certain models and software versions.

DO NOT USE 112 IN THE US! IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REDIRECT YOU TO 911! Use 000 instead (it's the emergency number in Australia).

I have a 4s that I forgot the passcode to about 2-3 yrs ago. I have audio recordings on them that I would like to get. thio Joe says there might be an exploit I can use to bypass the code. I'm researching that now. This won't work for me however. Saldy icloud backups are deleted after 6 months so the backup is long gone. Had i known that I would have installed the backup on the 6s that I have. :-(

If you have Siri enabled you can use it to access limited functionality. When the next jailbreak is released hopefully there will be more.

The phone is programmed to connect to emergency services when you dial 911 or 112 anywhere in the world from what I've been told. Just be sure to hit end before the call completes.

If you download the IPSW and do a shift+restore it will process a lot faster. That may be your problem if iTunes is trying to download the file and it is taking too long. Otherwise you might have a hardware problem like maybe an intermittent charging port issue.
