Maybe its just me but just watched this and Option 1 is primo. Option two provides no continuous circulation of the coolant. The fix is not to protect the heater core. It's to protect the cooling system of the engine - by isolating a heater core problem - and that requires a healthy dose of coolant circulation. Am I missing something ?
@evilbastard65873 жыл бұрын
Affirmative. This little fix here is actually meant solely to protect the heater core. It will isolate the core from the cooling system when a stop leak chemical is applied to try to fix a failing head gasket. That chemical will react to the presence of heat and exhaust or air to form a solid to try to plug up a coolant leak. But there's the possibility it could also react in the heater core to plug that up, too.

@@da324 yes it would. What happens when the heater core is blocked? You get no heat out of your vents during the winter. Summer time you lose water because the engine heat evaporates it into steam which comes out of your overflow, you can't see it until it gets so low and your engine is really hot and your gauge is shoots up in the red and your sitting in the side of the road calling a tow truck. due to no circulation of the water because you clamped it off or the heater core is blocked up. connect the hoses with a double sided nipple or whatever it's called so it can continue to flow

By looping a connection you will have full circulation even when starting up your car on a cold morning. It will take longer for the engine to warm up because a substantial portion of cold antifreeze is bypassing the thermostat and going into the block. If it is just a temporary thing then just couple the two hoses together like with ribbed metal coupling from Tractor Supply. If permanent then I would cut off the hoses to a short length and install a metal plug into each.
