hi mate I have got an issue on my C4 tranny. when ever I select gear from park to drive or even reverse it jerks (Thud) and it also jerks when going up or down gears while driving. any help will be really appreciated. Thanks

hi, check basics first. fluid level - vacuum modulator for leaks - worn universals joints - perished trans cross member mount - differential backlash - high engine idling etc. cheers

Your Band adjustment specifications differ from the Workshop manual. Are the number of turns you back off each bolt based on best performance or other data sheets. Could you let me know the data you are using and where to find it. Thanks

hi, its what i have done for over 30 years and even longer for my old man ( retired now )...on these trans, as long as the bands are not grabbing or touching the drums when they are not applied, it has got to do with timing...to me minimum is usually best, as things will wear naturally anyway. when bands on c4 are way out of adjustment the servo pistons will apply the bands at a bad angle and then prematurely wear the linings on band at the end tips and not evenly as they are designed to do..... i guess guidelines vs experience....there was a good explanation on fb. facebook.com/notes/mustang-monthly-magazine/a-few-words-about-band-adjustment/481654822550/ ....in old days, we also use to make bands with brass plated tips for heavy duty c4 use/work to reduce the tips wearing. cheers

Thank you for saying how far to put the shifter shaft seal in. Been to 20 websites and no one has said how far to push the seal in. Time to start putting things back together. Hint to viewers, he said "flush" with the housing.
