For the voltage drop calculation you should take load current which is actually drawn by the motor! Not the value used to rate your cable! Right?
@electricallectures10 ай бұрын
Always find the values based on rated load as it keeps u safe

Didnt really understand that how at the beginning of calculations and without knowing the cable size, we can assume going for 2 multicore cables (after which we obtain 388A load current)
@electricallectures Жыл бұрын
This is just supposition in order to calculate group factor. But if you keep foing calculation , you get a rough idea that how many per phase cables are needed to take the load. But proper way is to start by ond cable

This can be found in IEEE wiring regulations. If you have any specific observation regarding calculations you can ask

Sir, sorry I have a question. What is the no of runs in cable sizing. Example: 5R/3.5C/240sqm/XLPE 1R/3.5C/240sqm/XLPE thank you Sir
@electricallectures3 ай бұрын
I don't understand exactly. If you mean to say 5R is 5 circuits of 3 core cables. What exactly you want to know. Do u want to ask about grouping factor?
@mwncc65283 ай бұрын
@electricallectures Thank you Sir. Yes, I still confuse run cable example 5R, 3,R, 1R. Please explain me Sir, your answer Will help me. Thank you

anyone know what documentation or code he is getting the different tables from?
@ianhowe1449 Жыл бұрын
The NEC (National Electrical Code) manual. I can look up the page numbers if you need em. The NEC is like 900 pages, but there are probably 20 pages you actually need to size any wire.

What if the insulation is TRS?
@electricallectures10 ай бұрын
Then another very critical factor also applies which is enclosed in thermally insulated material. In that case the factor is o.5 if the total run of cable on TRS is 300mm

suppose m selecting breaker for 150kw so thats 270 amps and multiply by 1.25 is 337 breaker available size is 400 amps if we select xlpe running on perforated cable tray is 185 sqmm 3.5 core then how did u select 2c 95 sqmm please correct your calculation. if i consider 0.9 derating factor 337 x 0.9 thats 303 amps so while running current is 270 amps and cable could bear after derat 300 amps, dont spread wronmg calculation.
@electricallectures4 ай бұрын
I just give an example to show effect of grouping factor. For that , I have to use 2 multi core or single core circuits per phase so that grouping factor applies. If I run single cable, viewers will not understand grouping factor. And by the way not all cables are selected according to the breakers
