How to calculate LS factor of RUSLE using Unit Stream Power Erosion and Deposition(USPED) in ArcMap

Where rill erosion dominates, these parameters are usually set to m=1.6 and n=1.3; where sheet erosion prevails, they are set to m=n=1.0 (Moore and Wilson 1992, Foster 1994).

Could you please explain the terms m and n, and your consideration in setting them to values 0.4 and 1.4 respectively?

What's the basis of using 0.4 and 1.4 for m and n? How do you determine that "Adjustable value"?
