Thanks a lot for this, but madam what if the wall has a ring beam?
@theladyengineer11 ай бұрын
What exactly is your question? Do you want to calculate materials for the ring beam? Do you mean to subtract that part?
@luciasphiri365210 ай бұрын
To subtract that part so we can only know the number of blocks only on that particular wall. U only told us how to subtract windows and doors.
@theladyengineer10 ай бұрын
You subtract it if its size is significant. Remember you also need to provide for cases where some blocks get damaged or you under-estimated which is more likely than over estimating. You do not have to rely so much on the contingency provided because that's only useful beyond reasonable doubt.

very nice work Eng. just want to ask why you didn't consider the mortar?
@theladyengineer2 жыл бұрын
The video is just a guide even for the layman. In construction we normally don't calculate the exact quantities, you have to provide for losses and damages on site as well. So this way of calculating will ensure you cater for all that, however, bear in mind that you still have to subtract the open areas such as doors and windows because those would definitely be too big to provide for contingency.
@hardcore_henry2 жыл бұрын
@@theladyengineer alright, well explained. Keep on doing a great job!

The critical point that Eng. It needs to clear our minds on it. To me, it is going to work perfectly for small projects, but for big projects, you are going to have a lot of blocks left behind

We cater for any eventualities like crushing, theft and demolition in case of a mistake. It's always encouraged to over design in construction.
