Would it make sense to get an extra guide stop front and back for using the kapex extensions and without? That way you would be able to slide back and forth and not have to go through the alignment process again. John

Not sure I follow what you mean. Here's my process, and I don't have to worry about adjusting anything between the Kapex and MFT/3: 1. Calibrate the trimming attachments to the Kapex. 2. Install the trimming attachment to the MFT/3 and go through my set up process in this video. 3. You can now move the trimming attachments back a forth between the Kapex and MFT/3 without having to worry about recalibrating anything. The MFT/3 is now calibrated to the trimming attachments, which are already set up for the Kapex - there's no need to go back and forth with calibrating anything else. As long as you have the feather keys set to the MFT/3 support units (part the guide rail sits on), you don't have to worry about the MFT/3 going out of calibration. The trimming attachments can come out of calibration to the Kapex if they are moved around a lot - but that's a quick fix (I have a video showing this process). And again, as long as you re-calibrate them to the kapex, then it's calibrated for the MFT/3. Hope this clarifies any lingering questions about my process, but please feel free to ask if you need anything clarified. Appreciate the comment!

you could use the quick fix lever to lock the blade down to make adjustment easier. Appreciate the videos, even if they did cost me $630 for the rails.

Yep! Just raise the guide rail supports high enough. Could also use some random thickness materials to make up 2.4mm (or whatever the kerf of the blade is if not festool) . Thanks for watching!

Hey Ben , great job with the channel. I’m a hobbyist woodworker and recently moved to Spain all the way from Canada. I was properly set up with all my tools back in Canada. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring everything along and I’m now setting up a woodworking shop from scratch. One of my first purchase was the ts55 and I absolutely love it. It’s amazing what you can do with the track saw. I’m now thinking of getting the tks80 . However , it’s 3k and I rather put that money in setting up the space properly before. Therefore, I’ve thought of getting the MFT/3. It’s currently 17% off so I figured it might make sense. My question to you is what are the limitations with it? Do you feel the need for a table saw sometimes? Thanks again for the channel and hope to see more of your work soon. Cheers, Esteban Tarragona, Spain

Hey man thanks for the comment! Sucks that you had to start over, however sometimes that can be a blessing. There are times I wish I had a table saw, mainly for ripping larger stock that is either too big for the MFT or too cumbersome for the guide rail and track saw. Every shop is different, as is every project. I’m holding out at the moment for a CS-70, which I’ll have to import from EU. What you get really depends on what you’re making. Having the TS55 is a great start, coupled with the MFT you can certainly get a lot done. At this point, getting a tablesaw for my shop is a matter of convenience - not necessity. However that’s based off MY needs - so it’s a call you have to make for yourself. If I were you - I’d keep making projects with the tools on hand. Every time you think to yourself “man, I wish I had a XYZ or ZYX…” write it down. Put a tic mark next to either one everytime you feel the need for one. After completing a few projects - the one with more tick marks wins! You’re basing the decision off needs at that point, and will most likely be satisfied with that decision. If I had the ability to buy a CS-70 right now, without the need for importing it - I would have already had it!

What’s the name or model number for the support extension? Also does it fit on the left side, so if you can a long panel that you wanted to cut a small amount off, saves it hanging off the edge of the mft?

Yes, the trimming attachments can attach to ANY side of the MFT, not just the left or right. I have affiliate links for everything in my video description.

Ben does this knock the other side of the fence out of calibration?

what do you mean?

Doesn’t the MFT3 have its own tape and flip stops?

@@jgraeff1 It comes with flag stops, but not a tape
