I've spoken to an engineer at a large post facility and he said that as far as they were concerned, the Sony OLEDs become EOL products when they can no longer accurately hit the gamut. What's your take on this? I'm always surprised to hear that more facilities don't just do LUT calibrations via external boxes on their Sony OLEDs, once the monitors need more help than just a white balance adjustment can provide.

I just went to download Calman to calibrate my a170 and saw that it costs $2,000!!!!! Is that correct? Isn’t this the same Calman that was free a few years ago?!?!

Aside from ColorChecker which didn't allow calibrations, Calman has never been free. If you have an existing license, please feel free to reach out to sales@portrait.com and we'd be happy to assist you in locating your legacy license. Thanks.

Those monitors are pretty tight but there's not much you can do if you don't hit the gamut chart correctly apprt from using an external Lut Box. This is a great video but it's pretty basic and the monitor wasn't that far away from the target. What it the EOTF isn't good? What if the brightness chart isn't good? It should be discussed if it's aimed at guys that are not experienced calibrators.
