I bought that novix echo this year and it's my favorite stand and in my price range so this fall I purchased the matching sticks and love them too but I'm looking for a upgrade for the top of each stick and that's a double step and after looking at a few forums and thank God I did I'm pushing towards the beast double step which I think will make my life easier for the up and coming year. As always be safe and stay healthy my friend.

Beast sticks are nice but you can easily modify your top novix steps to double steps for a fraction of the costs. doublesteps.com/product/doublestep/

This is a great video. I practice cam locking my stand in all the time from ground level as well as when I'm hunting from 19 ft high. However, I'm having some issues. I have a LWCG 1.0 and I'm doing exactly what you're saying in this video. I put the stand on the tree and strap the strap around the tree and I pull it as tight as I can. Then I do as described in this video, I lift the platform up and I press down on the seat with my arm and press down on the platform. I seem to get a good bit in the tree with the batwing bracket teeth and the platform teeth. But as soon as I go and step into the stand and stomp down on it, what happens is the teeth on the batwing bracket drift away from the tree. I don't know why. So then I try to toe hook it. But sometimes when I try to toe hook it, the platform will not lift up to cam it in better because all my weight is on the stand when my knee is on the seat or the platform teeth are dug deep in the tree. I always seem to have this problem toe hooking it. Since toe hooking it IMO is dangerous, how can I cam this stand in making it "hunt ready" without having to toe hook it? Like I said for some odd reason when I push down with my arm and lift up on the platform then push the platform down to cam it in before standing on the stand, the batwing bracket always gets a good bit in the tree until I step into the stand then it drifts away. Any help to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Well im not really sure, you seem to be doing it the way its prescribed and the way its intended to be done. Ive done it this way for the last 5 years with my LWCG stands, my novice helo as well as my Lone wolf assault 2 stand. Do you use Facebook or instagram? Perhaps you could send me a video of what is happening. Id check to make sure your cam strap isn't slipping. Ive heard of faulty cam straps where the strap will slip. Ive never experienced this but Ive heard of it. The other thing to make sure is that when you tighten down your strap is your strap level on the tree with the batwing? Let me know. Thanks

Very good instructions, just ensure you are tied off, I had a strap break once when doing this, it broke right at the pinch point of the buckle. I use both straps on the stand as a back up safety. Keep the video's coming.

Have you ever thought about putting a larger seat on the .5? I prefer to be able to lean back while sitting, bit worried the large seat would leave too little space on the nose to work with but the 1.0 seat might just be enough.

hey man thanks for the video! are you planning on doing review of the LWCG .5 after your season of use? Ive seen some comments about the sharp edges of the stand cutting into the straps, and I was curious if you experienced that. thanks again!

Yes, im going to make an in depth review here in a few weeks. I experienced the cutting as well. I used a Dremel tool with a sander bit to smooth the edges out.

Thanks for the reviews ! Just got my .5 today its badass to say the least. Can you do a video on silencing on the lwcg stand and sticks? Just curious to see how you mod it out if at all
@MichiganGreatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Its a possibility! Im always looking for new video Ideas. It seems kinda dumb but ive personally found that if I dont silence my gear it forces me to be more methodical in my setups. Basically it forces me to SLOW WAY down and think about every move to prevent noises. I do like strap buckle silencers though. So maybe I can make something on those! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel!! I appreciate it!

What do you think of the .5 stand V on the platform being small compared to the Assault 2 for stability
@MichiganGreatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
I think it can happen in very large trees yes. 99% of my hunts this year never had a problem and I always 1 strap it. I hung in 1 giant white oak tree and it took me forever to get the stand set.

Just started doing it this way about a month ago. I was one of those who got creeped out about the bat wing bracket being away from the trunk. Now if I can find out why my Assault 2 is creaking at times. Have you ever had an issue with yours?
@MichiganGreatOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Its the best way to do it really. I hated that bat wing moving too lol. Mine has creaked once or twice. If it was me id take it all apart and make sure all the joints are clean. Free of any metal shavings or what have you and make sure everything is all snug again and see if it still does it. If it does call lone wolf, they should be able to help you out. They have always been very helpful to me in the past.
@jimpeterson38063 жыл бұрын
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors good idea. It has to be at one of the joints. It doesn't do it all the time...just enough to get annoying though. If I can't get it figured out I'll contact Lone Wolf. Thanks for the advice!

I just got done practicing cam locking my lwcg 1.0 stand and it looks like the strap loops are fraying a little bit after I just got it the other day in the mail. Is it normal for this to happen when cam locking the stand? If not then do you know of a better way to avoid something like this to happen? I am concerned that one of these days when I'm in a hunting situation and I'm cam locking this stand, these buckle straps could break on me. Do you know the break strength of these straps?
@MichiganGreatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Lwcg stands are notorious for sharpe edges. You have to sand down the edges where the stands make contact with the strap. Sand or dremel or use some hockey tape to cover that. Unfortunately it has to be done

Is it my imagination, or does this method cause a lot of noise? Just seems like the whole idea of a lock-on is to be stealthy, unless it is just the directional mic, this sure seems to be loud enough to alert any big buck within earshot.
@MichiganGreatOutdoors Жыл бұрын
It could be noisy, absolutely. Have to be really careful
@ggergg6423 Жыл бұрын
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Guess so, is it possible to set it properly without making a fair amount of noise? I ask as I have been contemplating adding one to my collection, but this makes me question that. I am very particular with noise while hunting, I would never use a stand if it was noisy.
@MichiganGreatOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Any stand can make noise while doing a toe hook. Sometimes it's completly silent and sometimes it's not. In the past I've tried to time mine with blowing wind or geese flying over head. A car driving by. Obviously you cannot always do that lol.
