Just got my first tree stand, the one in the video to be exact. Thanks for the straight forward video man.

Bring a screwgun with and zip in a long screw leaving enough exposed to hang the stand on, makes it alot easier to throw the strap around the tree, instead of balancing and trying to hold the stand with your knee, then with the platform up tighten the strap unscrew the screw and the pull platform down to set it tight to tree

This is the single best instructional I have seen! Very thoughtful approach and setup from start to finish and a straightforward emphasis on safety throughout. Thanks so much for taking the extra time to do this! I'm sure having the camera involved gave this an even higher level of difficulty.

Thank you Jason for your kind words. I wanted to make a video that shows how to be safe but at the same time enjoyable with the thrill of hanging a stand. I really do appreciate your positive feed back. Stay safe and hunt hard!

By far the best video on this on KZbin! Thank you so so much! One tip I might add is after you loop and secure your lifeline to your desired height. I see you pull on it to tighten it. After pulling to tighten put a screw in tree step just below it. In the bad event of a fall it’s double security that rope won’t slip plus can hang stuff on the step. God bless you sir
@primevalpursuits96816 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. I learned today that you should never grab the prusik knot with your hand, rather have your hand above or below it to slide it up or down. The pressure of grabbing the knot, in the event of a fall, can prevent it from grabbing.

Once you do it a few times, you can get them set up pretty quick. It helps to have a mobile set up for run and gun but if need be but observation you can move these pretty quick. Thanks for watching!

Good info the only thing I would add is a second lineman belt for when you have to go around a branch so you are connected to the tree 100% of the time. Also like was said in the comment below strap the stand in when it is folded then seat it in place when lowering the platform.
@fulldrawoutdoors16855 жыл бұрын
I’ve always folded my stand after strapping it in and then tightening it more because it usually loosens when you fold it and then it’s for sure tight after that
@jimmyinglish7597 жыл бұрын
Great video! I like the idea of raking under the stand first so u get a good clean area to start with. Plus if u drop anything it will make it much easier to find. I also might recommend that after u loop your lifeline around tree and get it all tight and adjusted that you might think about installing a screw in step just below the rope where it goes around the tree. This can serve a two fold purpose. It will prevent rope from slipping and you can also hang extra gear on the step. Just an idea. Great video! Be safe and God bless!

Good job, however I use rachet straps on the climbing sticks. I set up several "permanent" fall stands and I dont like to get surpised pre-dawn with loose tension straps. I appreciate your safety and preparation. If you have watched some of the other videos on youtube, on hanging stands; safety is completely disregarded. I recall one guy climbing in dress shoes and designer jeans with no lineman's belt. Your life depends on your approach to preperation and safety.
@stoneyfieldoutdoors62506 жыл бұрын
Raice Bannon I totally agree safety and preparation should always be at the Forefront. Thank you for watching and commenting.

So when he comes down, does he connect back to his lineman’s belt, then disconnect from the top safety strap?

I am sorry if I didn't explain everything completely. Please forgive me because when you're filming there is a lot going on and sometimes you forget things. However I can say with the muddy system, the lineman's is very easy to use and they provide you with very detailed instructions when you purchase from them

DECENT video, only a few things...u dont need that many stick. If u space out ur sticks, u can get up just as far with only 3...saves u money!! (most "stick sets" only come with 3 anyway). 2nd, u dont ever start ur first stick on the ground floor (unless u absolutely have to) always start it about 2' off the ground. if ur on public land, always start it off as high as possible so only u can get into ur stand or take out the bottom section with u when u leave the stand. keeps people from attempting to hunt out of ur stand!! an 3rd, u should always use ratchet straps, not the "cam shaft" kind that come with ur equipment!! (always use ratchets on every piece or climbing up on!!) much safer an the reason u only need 3 to get up just as high as u would with 5 sticks...equipment has come along these days, i remember hanging lock ons without any safety lines, wrapping ur arm around the the last piece u secured to the tree an using both hands to hoist up ur equipment or having a buddy climb up ur sticks and handing u what u needed. worked pretty good but not as safe. do as u please...made u wish u had 3 hands, but with the video, ur safety strap would be ur 3rd hand!! so in reference to this veido, maybe youd wish u had 4 hands!! hahahaha also, id rather the stand be titled a lil forward rather than backwards (if u have the option or not) for the simple fact, its easier to stand up to take ur bow shot if its tilted a lil forward rather than backwards!! should be obvious!! simple human experience!!

I'm not sure why you chose to have such a long-winded reply but to each their own. #1: Those sticks are designed to be assembled together. You could separate them if you wanted but that's not the way the manufacturer intended you to do that. There are holes drilled where the top of one stick meets the bottom of the other to have additional fastening. I choose not to do that so there's some give over the season and if you do it adds to the noise to the sticks. I use separate sticks in a lot of applications for stand sets. This is not one of those examples. 2: Doing something properly has no dependence on cost. It never should be. If you want to go cheap, again to each their own. #3: I always start that style stick on the ground floor. 15+ years of it working safely and well for me. Life experience. #4: I don't hunt public land and never have claimed to, so I don't see how that comment even applies to me. You're free to make your own video on this platform if you feel you're better. No one including myself is stopping you from doing that. #5: I've never had a problem making any shot from my stand setups. I lean mine back for safety and comfort. Life experiences and to each their own. #6: I'm not going to waste any more time replying to your ramblings. Anyone watching and reading can clearly formulate their own opinion, and I encourage that. Take Care.

Just stumbled upon this video. Ive hung and taken down hundreds of stands. Mostly good advice. I dont get why you wouldnt just assemble all sections of the climbing sticks and lean them up against the tree, with the straps attached. That way you don't need to take the extra time or effort to pull them up and assemble them.

You had a couple more steps to work with. Keep climbing and hang your stand below your linesman belt. You should never have to detach from your linesman belt and attach to your life line until you step onto your stand.

@stoneyfieldoutdoors62506 жыл бұрын
What does that have to do with me making a video about how to hang a set of sticks and a hang on stand? If you don't want to use what I showed in my video then use a ladder stand. People like me I prefer setups like this and I'm not alone.
