We’ve been canning venison & beef for years. It’s a great way to make room for the coming season of meat. Jerky & sticks are also a great way to make room in the freezer as well. Just bought a freeze dryer and will probably start freeze drying some beef this fall.

I absolutely love my freeze dryer! Nothing goes to waste. I’ve not done any meat yet but I want to start freeze drying some meals for camping and convenience. Thanks for watching! 😊

Thank you so much for making this video. My mother-in-law gave me a pressure cooker a few years ago, but I have always been afraid to use it. I’ve never watched anyone go step-by-step on how to use it like you did. I’m going to try this with the extra beef roast. I have in the freezer. Thank you again!

My mom used to do a lot of canning when I was a kid. She did water bath and pressure canning. She did a lot of fish and beef. I didn’t remember how to do it, but I do have some pressure canners that were passed down from her that are in pretty good shape and I wanted to learn how to pressure can. Great tutorial. It gave me things to look for on the pressure canner and Glenda has already looked up the pressure for our area. It’s 13 pounds. We’re gonna give it a go. Thanks a lot, great video.

I would replace the rubber ring just to be safe. The one that failed for me was a hand me down pressure canner. It’s not a mess that you want to clean up. 🤣 other than that I say try it! You’ll have some great meals to take to the UP. 😊

@@ADifferentKindofQuiet i’ll take your word on it and replace the rubber ring. I don’t need any hot messes lol🤣

My Mom told me that when she lived at home with her parents, she and her mom would swap off on who would be doing the canning of the tomatoes. Depending on if one or the other was going through her monthlies.

Thank you, really good content! How long does the meat keep once canned?
@ADifferentKindofQuiet3 ай бұрын
We try to use it within two years but we’ve eaten it from three years ago and it was fine. We don’t go longer than that as we rotate through it by eating the oldest first.

Hi Barb, just found your channel and am enjoying watching your videos. I'm also a fellow Michigander. I do have a question. That stove you use for your canners...what kind is it and how many btu's are the burners? I have been wanting so bad to make my own outdoor kitchen for canning but can never figure out what kind of propane stove to get.
@ADifferentKindofQuiet2 ай бұрын
I’m glad you are enjoying my videos. I appreciate the encouragement. 😊 The stove is just a run of the mill camp stove. It’s Camp Chef and the burners are 60K BTUs. It’s great for canning.

Thank you. Im going to get one next check 😊 I'm in the process of making jerky right now but can't wait to get into the canning.
