We stop by a lovely open air clothes shop in Positano Palo Borracho

But then decide it's too hot to shop and go and eat instead at Il Grottino Azzuro.
Back home after lunch for a dip in the pool and the first of many tomato canning sessions!
We used only tomatoes today. No herbs, no salt, no sugar. Whole tomatoes squashed in a jar with Sorrento tomato puree. Boiled in the jars for 45 minutes. It is that simple!

I love this canning episode, you make it look so simple, although I can see it takes lots of work to get to the end result. This is so interesting! I would never even touch a tomato until a few years ago when I grew the little wee ones. Now that I grow lots of the paste tomatoes I just wash and freeze them in bags, so I can just pull them out as needed. I then make sauce over the winter- it makes the house smell so good! And I now love tomatoes! Everyone in my life got a jar of tomato sauce this Christmas, made with basil, oregano, garlic and rosemary from the garden. In Canada no less.... I can't wait to go to Italy and find out how it's supposed to be done :)

I was so looking forward to this episode, with the tomatoes and sauce, and it was amazing. You all make it look so simple, but I know it must be a lot of work. OMG Nicki u guys took me back, ....26 yrs we made our own homemade tomato sauce (First gen Italian -Canadian in cold Canada here) we’d make them end of August, that’s when you could buy them just ripe enough, haven’t made them in forever tho so we store buy now. My mother-in-law, until a few years ago, would make them as u do, ‘bagno marino’ I think she would call it? My mom would boil sauce twice before bottling it instead. I think that’s why I stopped making them lol. The technique of putting small tomatoes whole in jars with some cooked sauce is new to me and I like it!!! OMG u guys gave me the bug again....I think I may just go borrow my mother-in-law’s equipment this yr and make them myself. PS: You and Sky are just Lovely, you made my day. Watching u shop was so much fun, such lovely clothes, u look smashing in that dress! Watching Carlo figure out solutions to challenges is ever inspiring!! Grazie Luca, for showing me a new way to fast track tomato sauce making. 🙏 🙏

What a lovely shop... and colour coordinated areas... my favourite colour/shade is purples and lilacs... I loved the large polka dot dress, it was very simple but stylish, I liked the lemon ones too.. ooh which would I have bought? We don't dress up often enough.. we think we need a special occasion to do so when in fact every day is a special occasion so we should incorporate the glamour into our lives daily. Great team work with the cauldron lid..great retrieval techniques Nicki. I'm impressed you could get your leg up that high, I'd have needed a mini ladder and Carlos with his trusty hammer skills... I have one tomato plant which was given to me, it is in flower so I am hoping to have a mini crop but not sure I'll get a jar from it. Lovely video.. go back and buy the dress. xx

I've done a lot of canning and when I saw the amount of tomatoes you were working with, nearly swooned lol That huge vat is brilliant! I'd give my eye teeth to lay hands on a few of those jars of tomatoes! Thank you for your channel. I've become completely addicted. I'm stuck at home recovering from covid (all fine, but bored now) and this is getting me out into the world. I never knew I needed to visit Italy. Not sure it'll be Positano, though I wish I were young and fit enough to do so. I bet people there live to very old age, with all the sun, nutritious food, and STAIR CLIMBING :D

I think that (in general) Italian men care the most about vegetables and canning. In other countries, it seems to be solely left to the women. It was wonderful to see Carlo and Lucca processing the tomatoes.
