Holding a rooster/hen upside down is normal to calm them. Blood goes to their head and they get very calm. Carlo did just fine!

If you have ever tried to hold a rooster upside down by their feet is the best. They have sharp claws they use to scratch you with. That was absolutely correct how Carlo handled it. I love watching the water on the boat. That was an amazing yacht by the way.

Thank you for the good laugh I had watching Carlo catching the rooster and btw he held it perfectly. My Dad had several roosters and chickens in Puerto Rico and Carlo definitely handled it like a pro. What a wonderful boat ride. I can’t wait to visit and charter Elizabeth’s company to take me out to all those places. It is horribly hot in SC as well so I will take Carlo’s advice in order to stay cool 😂. You can clip the feather tips of one wing, it will keep them from flying out of the pen and venturing into territory where they shouldn’t be. Lol and Carlo held the rooster quite normally I might add. You can also use those large zucchini after you’ve deseeded them for next years garden, to make zucchini bread! It’s soooo good. I’ll send the recipe if interested.

I used to catch chickens professionally for a living. Not only did we "catch" them like Carlo did but we put their feet between each finger and had 3 chickens (hanging upside down) in each hand. That job didn't last long, I was very young and quickly learned to find a more comfortable way to make a living...as a bookkeeper. Love your work Nicki and your doggy and your husband!!! and your house and garden and pool and jaunts out and about. Grazie!!!

Hi from San Diego! This was a great episode - we're enjoying them all. This one even more so because we saw Villa San Giacomo as you and Carlo were walking down. We've spotted it before and it's always fun. I rented VSG for 2 weeks of yoga retreats and I arranged for the groups to go to Capri, Amalfi (lemon farm), Ravello, and walk Path of the Gods. Some of my students visited the cemetery too - I wonder if they saw Carlo :-). It was an exceptional trip and since it was our last one for a while, everyone is so grateful for our experiences there.
