How to Cap-dial Calibrate a Blumat Carrot

This is how to calibrate, or cap-dial, a Blumat carrot. This process will enable your carrot to deliver a moisture content in your living soil of apx. 80mb, whether you are using a gravity-fed system from a reservoir, or a pressurized system reduced to 15 psi. Be sure to check back for more info about how I set up my BlusSoak system in my 100-gallon living soil bed.

Have you seen the video by Sustainable Village they are recommending the calibration to be done dry?

I think if you look at the date of those videos, you will see that is the old way they dialed them in. This is a new method, just described by Michael Box on Growcast TV in April.

Thanks, growmie. Sorry for my delay in responding but yes, you need to keep air out of the system so keep it submerged.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but if you are asking about using the blumat system in pots, then yes, they work for them, too. They offer different styles and sizes. I started with their original system and put a large carrot in each 5-gallon pot with a slightly elevated reservoir, and they worked great. Hope that helps! So what I don't understand is why you keep in the water? Might as well just put the carrot on, yes? What changes from the cap being under water and the cap on the carrot filled with water and soaked? None
