I've just rebuilt the carb on my 018 and it works like new again. I wouldn't have attempted doing this without the video tutorial! Many thanks for taking the time to make the video.

Great editing and clear up-close shooting really helped you get your technique across. I really like when a tech will go to the trouble to explain WHY things fail and different tips to clean, install, and run your equipment. Keep 'em coming!

@kwakman99 u should use a stihl fitted line for this saw, the cost is only $@ more and will save u loads of trouble because of the vibrations and the way the line is routed

Well, I had done EVERYTHING to this chainsaw you could POSSIBLY do to get it to run but it just wouldn't crank. I knew the problem was fuel delivery. Well I took the carb off one more time. I took the cover off the metering side and pulled out one of the welch plugs. Not the brass one but the larger silver one. There are several very tiny holes under that plug. I blew them out with air and installed a new plug and put everything back together. It cranks on the first pull and runs like new. Damn!

Thanks for the video! You're a great teacher. I'm not new to small engines, but.... Just cleaned/fixed my MS180. I'd 'flipped' the gasket and diaphram positions the first time. Thanks to you! I was able to see my error and now, we're off and running! By the way - and this is not a commercial - I'm running E3 plugs in my saws, and they really make them start easy and run great. FYI

I have had trouble with my saw for ages. It kept stalling on load. Seeing your video I realized the small needle lever was below flush. Thus not working correctly. Adjusted lever and rebuild. Saw now performing as it should. Many thanks.

FYI I used a little Vaseline petroleum jelly dab to hold the spring in place while I reinstalled the needle valve just a tip afterwards cleaned it off with carb cleaner so it wouldn’t clog the jet or the needle valve Great video !

Hey donyboy73, awesome instructions. I am curious though if you have made a video of when you are adjusting any 2 stroke carb that you can talk about what the low and high side are and what they do. I am working on a trimmer stihl FS 74 I had to replace the fuel lines because as you stated very soft and sticky. I started with 1.5 turns on both and still will not stay running. I have replaced the carb kit but will go back and make sure the float needle is right. I think this lever was a bit lower

Hi, I know this is a little off topic but maybe you can help. I have a 1 year old 250 Stihl, and the little saw works great, cold start is great but if I shut it off for 4-5 minutes than try and start it again, it can make you want to beat the thing up on a stump!! This as happened over time, the saw was not like this before. The saw idles great and continues to run perfect when i leave it running. It will start great if I shut it off and than restart right away. Any advice? If I was to take apart the carb to clean or look for something , where would it be best to look?

DOny, you did an amazing video! I looked a video like that in Brazil and never found. WITH his video I could fix my carburetor. You could do a video on how to adjust the screws "L" and "H" of a Stihl cutter (not sure if this is the correct name of this machine in your language). Thank u so much dude!

Does it make a BIG differance if the metering diaphram goes before the gasket against the main body of a carb DB? Or is it a must that the gasket goes first?

Dony, do you really need to use a replacement Stihl gas line or could you use the universal clear gas line sold everywhere? I would presume that if both have the same internal diameter it should work or is there something else I'm missing that needs to be taken into account. Thanks.

hi there... removed muffler. no carbon build up . piston looks fine. so cracks or marks .is it normal to be a slight brown oil marks on cylynder. anyways, could it be the fuel filter.

I saw where you had the little lever in the carb level with the face of the carb. Is this a good place to set the lever on most of those carbs? I have a Husqvarna 335 XPT chainsaw that's driving me crazy. I have great compression, great spark, new fuel lines, fresh fuel, I have overhauled the carb and installed new kit, fuel is getting to the carb. It just won't run. Give it a shot of starter fluid and it will crank but dies once it burns up the starter fluid.

Dony, I was wondering if you had some in depth videos of Zama Carbs? I have read that the check valves can go bad, are those behind the welch plugs? Would you be willing to make a video of some tests to do on Zama carbs and some of the internal parts of the carb? I really like your channel, keep up the good work!

Hi Don. Great video as usual. Just a quick question - when you took the carb apart there did not appear to be a gasket on the metering diaphragm side but you put one in on the rebuild - that right? Also, the gasket on the metering diaphragm side went against the body of the carb but on the other side it went against the cover -right? Thanks for the videos man. Saved me a fortune!
@donyboy738 жыл бұрын
yes I always put one on the carb between metering diaphragm, and yes on the other side the gasket goes on the cover side

Another great video, bud! On the average it looks like the pre-shaped fuel lines on Stihl equipment makes for a nice straightforward replacement ... What would you say the avarage cost per fuel line is Accross the gammit of chainsaws/trimmers/blowers ??? Do they avarage five bucks a line or eight bucks a line or what? Kinda needed your insight.... I really like I can get 20 foot of tygon kinda reasonable and make all my echo lines as I need them... And I'm sure that's cheaper... I was just wondering how much cheaper to kinda use that to way in when I'm replacing equipment in the future. Also... Do there black rubber lines last any better or any longer the say tygon in this awful moonshine gas they are making us by? It seams like I'm getting two years from the tygon .... I could go longer but it's kinda brittle so I go ahead and do it as part of the maintience cycle. Are you guys up in Canada stuck with 10% ethanol at all your stations or can you still by regular unleaded gasoline up there? I love catching a couple videos with my morning coffee!!!! Keep up the good work and God Bless you and the family, bud! I'm hoping I can get all my work done quickly today... I want to hit one of my rebuild 350's with the degreaser and the pressure washer and get into a rebuild this afternoon. I still have that QV 8000 that had cylinder damage to knock out... I was thinking that might be a good candidate for the big bar and the Alaskan saw mill ... I know that they don't rev to that super high rpm of some of the other saws but are supposed to have lots of torque ...and that ripping chain doesn't come in skip chain... Have you ever worked on these QV 8000 or the echo CS8000 saws? If so what was your general overview... Fix it to sell or might be a real reliable keeper? Hey bud, you have a great day and enjoy your Sunday! Are you to the point you avoid the shop completely on Sunday or do you tinker with your own stuff when the shops closed? Well I'm guessing you'd be closed on weekends but I could be wrong. Have s great day, Big Guy!
