Hey Glambassadors! Understanding porosity can be difficult, so in this video I break down porosity, low porosity, and how to care for hair that has low porosity. I have done a full video on porosity, but many people wanted more clarity, so I genuinely hope this helps!
Here are the links to the 3 products I spoke of in the video:
Hair Steamer: amzn.to/2C3RFWo
Wet Brush: amzn.to/2Ptgmih
Denman Paddle Brush: amzn.to/2ru7QpV
*Commonly asked questions:
The camera I film on: amzn.to/2rtuTAW
The lighting I use: amzn.to/2QmjiTk
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'm always more than happy to answer!
Until next time GlamFam, take care, God bless, and stay Glam!
You know I love you boo,
Linwood

I have fine, High Porosity Hair. I have seen where Naturals get very frustrated with products sitting on the hair. Its probably because they are Low Porosity. So many reviews, of products not working correctly, when it could possibly be the structure of the reviewers, hair. Knowledge about properties of the hair is essential. Education is valuable so we dont have 500.00 of product, stashed in the closet, not being used 💚. Many THANKS for making education enjoyable 👍

I started caring for my hair from the porosity (mine is low) point of view instead of hair type and boy did it make a difference. Products in the store are okay but I have gotten pretty good at creating my own magic. I do a great deal of research. Liquid vs. cream is amazing advice. Thank you for this. Forever teaching and we appreciate it.

Omg, I love you 💕💕. I have very low porosity hair and I'm tender headed, so I've been struggling to care for my hair 🙃🙃😭😭😫. My aunt told me that my porosity was "terrible", so I thought something was wrong with my hair, and it was unhealthy (she's a beautician). Now I understand why the creams weren't actually being absorbed into my hair.

😍😍 OMGGGG thank you! You have gifted me a new option of using wrapping lotion instead of gel for holds. I am new to having my hair loc'd (just at a year). I have been bouncing around this ENTIRE YEAR trying to find a gel that won't sit on top of my hair - without luck. Also have an issue finding a loctician who tailors their products/service based on porosity - I have been to 5 so far and none of them believe me when I ask them not to use a lot of gel (and absolutely NO edge control) because both IMMEDIATELY (next day) leave a white/grey film on my hair along with scalp flakes. When my hair was chemically relaxed, my sister (who used to be a licensed cosmetologist) would use setting lotion to wrap my hair and I never had any issues with buildup or film. I forgot about that because I've been natural for many many years.

Thank you so much for the hair specific information. It was so helpful. I can’t store a streamer with the large dryer, so I ordered a facial steamer and hoping to obtain same result. It’s interesting that low porosity hair takes long to wet down. Mine does not, but, I also have low density, so maybe that is why it can still get wet fast.

I used the Mielle Organics Mint Babassu hair conditioner and my hair was dry and a little rough :(. I knew the conditioner had protein, but I did not think it will be much protein to do harm. I put the product in the do not use pile, lol. I wonder can the tangle teezer can be use besides the wet brush and demen brush.

Genise Dever there are but the water test is the best way because you can actually see how your hair absorbs moisture.
@Princess0ftheLight
@Princess0ftheLight 4 жыл бұрын
I ised the water test and it confused me, but try it to see if it works for you. What has helped me is paying attention to how my hair behaves. For example, when I wash my hair focused on how quickly my hair absorbed water, and I noticed it took forever to get fully wet, so I made a note of that. I continued to look for porosity signs and that helped me to determine my porosity. Its a slower method, but it works if you tune in to your needs.

I have thick,low porosity, high density, 4c hair. However, my hair does better with creamy leave ins and creams and butters in terms of moisture. My hair stays moisturized longer when I use those. To keep the products from sitting on my hair and creating build up, I wet my hair with warm water. It is the key to my hair being properly moisturized.

I've wondered how to deep condition her hair - if I don't have a steamer, but a soft cap for my blow drier, will that work for 10 mins or so? How often would you deep condition on low porosity hair, bi-weekly or monthly or less?

Thanks for explaining about how the porosities can change. I generally have low porosity hair. But it's weird sometimes i.e. after wash day sometimes the leave-in just seems to sit on my hair until after a few days of using the GHE (green house effect). On other days, the leave-in absorbs almost within a few hours, not leaving any residue.

Have you did a video on high porosity hair? If so can put post link? If not can you do one for both high and medium porosity hair?I'm really trying to see which one am I. I have signs of both low and high. Not sure about medium yet. Didn't know that was a thing. Just found your channel and loving it. Making me rethink what I have doing and thinking about my hair. Very educational. Thanks. Keep up the great job. I live in Tx. Where is your shop located and the name of it?

Hi, hair is not my thing, I wash it and twist it or do nothing for weeks. But now I have a 2 yr. old so I have to learn. Please help me. My baby girl's hair is always dry, even after I deep condition it, using mainstream products. I was using homemade oil based conditioner it worked for about a day then bone dry, small bald spots, tangled up hair. It's like water hates her hair. And her hair always feels like something is coating it.

Thanks for the video Linwood! I'm confused about the porosity of my hair. I did the water porosity test, and my hair strands stayed at the top of the water. From what I understand, this means that I have low porosity hair, but my hair dries out pretty quickly, and according to what you mentioned here, I'm high porosity.

I have the same issue and I'm also low porosity. I was told to try moisturizing daily to increase my moisture levels. Or every two days

Mimi Iman that’s more of a prepoo, to soften the hair prior to cleansing. Keep in mind that the most important ingredient when moisturizing hair is water, it’s a massive help in the conditions process.
