I know this video on hair porosity is extensive, and I hope sincerely that you don't feel overloaded or overwhelmed with information. I covered details for low porosity, medium or normal porosity, and high porosity, as well as what products help, what can alter your porosity, and the differences between natural porosity, mechanically induced porosity, and chemically induced porosity changes. As I stated in the beginning of the video, there was a lot to unpack!
If you find this video to be helpful, please share it with a friend or family member you think would benefit from this information. Understanding and catering to the needs of your porosity impacts the hair in a positive way, allowing you to see hair growth, as well as length retention.
Until next time, have an amazing day, take care, God bless, and stay glam!

Do you believe that a lot of naturals mistakenly believe they have low porosity hair due to product build up? I’ve gone back to regularly washing my hair with a Sulfate shampoo and I’m realizing that my hair is actually high porosity but because I had been using so much grease and oil, water had a difficult time penetrating my strands.
@christy7516

I believe it too ! Especially TGIN it causes too much buildup almost every product of theirs is heavy on silicones and thick oils it's too much . I think it's also responsible for people saying their hair is not curly ..

Everything you said NOT to do to high porosity hair I've done to hers because I didn't know!😧 Hopefully now with this information I can help sis out, because she love love loves her curls, but I haven't let her wear them because I've been torturing to poor things 🤦🏽‍♀️ Thank you so much, and thank you from my daughter and her curls too. Grey has a tendency to be coarse or wiry, its part of it's composition. White hair tends to be much more delicate though. A hair steamer is an excellent way to get more moisture in, make sure that when styling you opt for low heat or no heat options, so you don't scorch the hair or cause it to yellow. Violet shampoos can help with removing mild yellowing, but not extreme cases.

Now I have a better understanding that my hair is low, my older daughter is medium, and my youngest is high porosity. Washing my baby's hair in plaits SAVES OUR LIVES. I had been considering doing that 🤔, but now I'm definitely going to do it. Her hair matts, tangles, knots up, (despite staying in pigtails most of the time... she's 5) and people constantly give me advice without understanding what her hair is REALLY like. Hi Elizabeth. I had a serious scalp issue and was using all kinds of medicated shampoos and scalp treatments. I had scabs around the hairline, especially at the front. I eventually moved from the area I was living and could no longer go to my usual, salon so I had to change salon. The first thing I noticed at this new salon was that these ladies never put their fingers into their products, they sanitized a lot...comb dropped on the floor and it was sanitized. Client leaves the chair its sanitized. Well 2 months after going there I had the most healthy scalp to this day...13 years later. I tell this story to everyone with scalp issues. Look into your environment to see if there is anything you can change.....unless its internal.

Thanks for THEE most thorough and informative explanation of WHAT porosity is and how to categorize and identify the types - that I've watched on YOUTUBR!!! Thanks to you, I've identified my hair as high porosity, and now know what product types to use for its care! Kudos on a job well done!

Was that really 30+ minutes? Felt like 10, if that. Your knowledge & delivery are excellent!! Do you have videos already about: Recommended frequency of hair washing based on porosity type or another factor? What's considered too much? Too little? Best hair care routine? Which order, Help! :-) Wash -> Condition -> Deep Condition -> Protein Treatment -> Moisturizer -> Humectant -> Sealant How to tell the difference between certain scalp conditions? Thank you in advance!!!

The hairdresser I had from kindergarten until I was in my 20s always told me that my hair was “spongy”. I didn’t understand what she meant for years. Been relaxer free for 6 years. My porosity seems like it has stayed the same relaxed or not. My fine 3c/4a/4b hair loves deep conditioning. This has been sooooo helpful to me.

Oh wow, you are one of the best, I am just learning about hair texture, & it’s am amazing journey, & you are a kind & loving young man, not selfish at all, when you are giving away such valuable information, free, just down load it, Thank you so much, because it’s very confusing & nerve racking to listen to so many people saying different things about the same topic, so you being about the second or third person, it’s more to know, my hair is about 3 inches long, which is very short dry & thick , feels like sheep 🐑 wool, I can’t find a product to even soften it but for a while while it’s wet then when it drys it goes back to the sheep 🐑 texture 😊, so instead of cutting it off like I always does or perming it, I am willing to try to let it grow naturally & obey your teachings 😊, on how to get life in my hair , again thank you so much & may God continue to strengthen you in many more ways & knowledge, in what you enjoy doing the best , making us out here naturally & glam 🙏,

Thank you so much for this video! It has been so informative and eye opening, and I must agree you articulated clearly and I absolutely love the use of blinds to explain such a complex term for most of us. This clearly affirms that you’re an Educator. I’m an educator myself and I’m researching on porosity for my own KZbin channel

Porosity has always been the most confusing topic in the realm of natural hair. I got a hair analysis 3 years ago, and they told me that my hair was normal to high porosity. However, on the microscopic pics of my hair, my cuticles were closed tightly like low porosity hair. I’m gonna experiment with some of the tips you mentioned in this video and decide my porosity from there! Thank you!

Natural High porosity- great video! I use a ACV and banking soda water rinse every few months, I do a cowash over shampoos, will shampoo if fills build up then ACV and baking soda rinse, Aphoghee protein treatments 1-2 a month, rewet hair with aloe gel mix in water spray bottle, after deep conditioning I spray protein leave in’s CHI, Aphogee or any spray protein, then go in with small amounts of my butters or cream moisturizers and last seal with coconut oil and due 2 strand twist using bits of gel...then put drops of castor oil or growth serum on scalp, (sit under a warm dryer to soak up the product) put on a wig cap, then bandanna and bonnet and the moisture stays in my twists for a week before I wear loose styles on the weekend. I rewet with aloe water and protein spray and butters and twist again. My hair is so loving this routine...stays so shiny and defined. Thank you for assuring I’m on the right track. ♥️

The demo with the blinds to describe the cuticle layer and the differences between low, medium, and high porosity was brilliant! And the use of body heat for high porosity hair when deep conditioning just saved me from buying a steam cap! It never occurred to me that since the cuticle scales (those are the things that open and close on the cuticle) are already open I don't need to blast it with outside heat, either wet or dry, to get moisture into the shaft. Also the explanation on using apple cider vinegar mixed with water gave me an "a ha" moment: now I know why my hair (high) feels so soft and smooth when rinsing with that concoction. I knew I loved your channel for a reason! I learn so much from watching.

First of all, thank you so much for your video. You are an excellent teacher and this is one of the best videos on hair care that I have seen. I am going to download your information packet so that I can read that too. I knew something was not right with my hair and I could not figure out what the issue was but after watching your video, I realized what I need to think about. I was alternating between co-washing and washing, but never really seeing my products absorb properly and like you said, I can actually see the products sitting on the surface of my hair but not really absorbing enough to seem like it was doing any good. I am using the As I am line right now which I really like, but I never did the clarifying shampoo initially before starting with that brand. So after your video, I went back and ordered the clarifying shampoo and I am going to try that now. After listening to you, I really believe that it is the product buildup that I have that is causing my issues (I am age 56 and fully transitioned). I am really happier with the natural hair now as opposed to the relaxed hair, but I feel like I am still trying to learn how to manage it. I know I will be much happier once I get this down pat, but thanks again for your video. You really know how to speak to an audience and get your points across. Thanks

My hair is naturally higher-porosity, but after all my chemical abuse... I think a sidewalk in July holds water longer. Friends oft' think I've coloured my hair when they see it wet, because it's about three shades darker than normal. But I'm learning how to seal in the moisture better, all thanks to you. You are such an amazing teacher. Your actual students are so lucky to have you.
