A Sculpted Life

Жыл бұрын

This week in Episode 2 Jeff May shares his Pacific Northwest Life by taking viewers through the process of carving / sculpting a little black bear climber from his Northern Idaho based studio. He also share some Chainsaw Care tips and best practices . The sculpture is made from a sustainably harvested western red cedar tree. Jeff goes from whole log to art and transforms it into a beautiful black bear. In this video Jeff uses a variety of tools; Echo 2511p chainsaw, Stihl chainsaw, Dremal 4000, and a host of Makita power tools. Life in Northern Idaho is perfectly suited to those who love art and nature, so Jeff feels right at home here creating works of art from his home based studio in the woods. You can see a similar demo on the International wood carvers association youtube channel back in May of 2021. Jeff has a passion for sharing art and the benefits such as art for depression and anxiety. We need to model how art can be good medicine in times where we are inundated by technology and a fast paced world .

My chickens appreciate how much saw dust is produced by your "little bit at a time" method. And you can't argue with the amazing finished product!

Hey, Jeff, the little bear turned out amazing. An outstanding piece of art. As it took a while to perfect your sculpting, it will take some time to nail down the artfulness in your video work. I have no doubt you will become as proficient at recording your efforts as you are at sculpting them. Keep up the great work!

That’s great … I’m glad it’s useful to you :) thank you for having a look .. I don’t mention it in the video but I do have/use Both 4x4 and 6x6 posts as supports , the larger size gives the paw and foot positions more options

Wow. I do Intarsia and just completed a bear project similar to this but your work is simply amazing. The amount of work involved to create such a piece of art it intense but very rewarding. Just subscribed and rang the notification bell for your channel. Looking forward to viewing your content.
