This bloke is a proper artiste! For those of you commenting on the price, think of this as the Wagyu or Kobe beef of ham. Allegedly the best of the best. You pay for the pigs "special" diet, the "special" curing process, the high priced advertising, etc etc. I can go down to my local supermarket and buy a leg, cured the same way, for about 40 euros. To my palate it tastes just fine.
@steviespaind43077 жыл бұрын
Isn´t that what I said? I also said that, to my uneducated palate, the cheaper ones taste fine to me.

All these comments, they show the level of culinary culture of some people. They're so used to buying prepackaged crap and deep frying everything to then drown it in sauces, they're unable to appreciate actual flavour. These hams are a work of art, worth $750 a piece. But they will rage because it's "2 pricey 4 muh burgers this glorified bacon." Grow up, people.
@nymetswinws8 жыл бұрын
Oh please, I've eaten some very expensive meats before. This stuff is nothing more than for show and people who want to feel elitist. A Christmas honey ham you find in most shopping marts taste better. Just because this costs exponentially more doesn't mean it is exponentially tastier. It really isn't.

Yeah, you haven't tasted it. You probably would fry it like bacon. Good one, fam. I needed the laugh. Go get educated.

@JavierSanchez-dn4yn7 жыл бұрын
Are you joking? First of all, I'm sure you cannot afford this ham. Second, if you ever got the chance to try this treasure, do it without sauce. Jamón must be with wine, and bread (this last in some cases)
@diesel_dawg7 жыл бұрын
Who the fuck are you to say if I can or cannot afford jamon? Serrano jamon slices can be bought for £1.50, which converts to 80 American CENTS. A 5.5kg LEG of Serrano can be bought for £14.99, which converts to $18.68 American Dollars - stand and knife included. So fuck you. And if I ever buy any of it, I will eat it however the fuck I please.
@TheBozwalox7 жыл бұрын
Um, you are wrong on many counts. Firstly, GBP is worth more than USD; £1.50 equates to $1.87 at the current exchange rate. Secondly, you have quoted a price here from Iceland, one of the lowest-rent UK supermarkets. Real high quality Serrano is many times more expensive. Thirdly, although it is your prerogative to eat your food as you wish, it would be a great disservice to both the animal and the artisan who prepared it to scoff it down in such an uncaring way, with no thought for real reflection or enjoyment of what you are experiencing. However, I am close to certain that you are an American, and as such like many of your countrymen you are an uncultured pig, not worthy of eating such a delicacy.

Are they eaten as is? or do you have to cook it?
@familyphotoshoot24137 жыл бұрын
Juan Miguel Dela Cruz They're cured, meaning the legs are treated with salt and hung up to dry. The salt and air drying removes a lot of the moisture from the meat and changes its texture and flavor. So they are not technically cooked but they are preserved and safe to eat as is.

why eat the part that dries out faster for slower consumption?
@Joselitojamon8 жыл бұрын
+Awesome Eats The reason is because it will dry and loose quality before the other part because it has les fat.
@supercoolben8 жыл бұрын
but wouldnt you want to eat the part with the higher fat content for slower consumption ?
@Joselitojamon8 жыл бұрын
+Awesome Eats No, because the fat of Joselito ham is perfect for conserving the ham. Since the other part has more fat, it can last for longer time without loosing quality as opposed to the thinner part of the ham.
@timlaunyc8 жыл бұрын
+Awesome Eats The fat content comments are in relation to the outer layers of fat which protect the meat, which is cut away, and the outer most layers of which may be discarded. One side has more fat, while the other side has less fat. The side with the thinner layer of fat will dry out faster since the meat is closer to the surface.

Well, according to Basque maestro Juan Mari Arzak and Ferran Adría (considered world’s best chef), ‘Joselito’ is "the best ham in the world" 🤩
@juanitolondon26804 жыл бұрын
Jamon Joselito that’s his opinion. I’m not saying your ham isn’t amazing , but there are literally HUNDREDS if not thousands of producers of PATA NEGRA in Spain and “the world’s best chef” hasn’t tried all of them. I’m a professional Ham carver myself with over 10 years experience and I’ve had the pleasure of tasting MANY hams from the FOUR acorn fed 100% ibérico regions. Every one of those regions claims they make the best pata negra. Martin berasategui, endorses ALJOMAR, he is also a world renowned chef. The best ham in the world is the one the customer likes the most. But if you work for joselito or endorse they’re product, you will have to say it’s the best. Dehesa Maladua in Huelva and Jamones Lazo produce El manchado de jabugo, the most expensive ham in the world , with the longest production process on the peninsula. Dehesa de los monteros give their pigs a premontanera de castañas. From La Sierra de Ronda. Do you see ? Joselito IS an amazing ham but not the best in the world
