So, how does this merit any thumbs down? You are an amazing, inspirational young man! If you don't get A* in your exam, there is something sadly wrong with the system. As others have suggested, you should consider selling your artwork to fund future projects. Well done!

Louis Cypher - Exactly... the computer is making it, not the person.
@terrybox74436 жыл бұрын
No true. The computer is fabricating it, but the person designed it and developed the artwork and G Code. The computer did nothing without human intervention.

hummm gotta try some of this. First X-carve Ive seen modded to run mach 3 other than a few ive done it to.. My Electric Termite is a total home brew with enough power to chew on 4 by 4s quite easily.. Get one of those flap wheel sanders and stick it one of those battery drills. That will get almost all the sanding done other than a bit of minor hand clean up.

Makes we want a Secret Wood style table out of one of these! Maybe once I get a CNC router myself.
@7711gman5 жыл бұрын
Very nice. A few things. Step over for the 3D pass should be 8% to 10% max. There will be no sanding needed then. The 3D pass can be done at very high speeds. I was going 120ipm with a stock gen 1 x-carve. My modified x-carve can go 250ipm.

Yay, I see a future for you in making these works of art. Imagine what you'll be doing in 20 years' time (it will fly by, I promise you!). It would be really interesting to see you do this on a big sheet of Micarta. Perhaps you could make the Micarta yourself as an interesting project as well. That way you could choose the colors of your layers to get a specific effect in the finished carving. Really enjoy your videos.
@Vimesfan2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. You were talking about lighter colors being raised surfaces and darker being lower surfaces in photos. Imagine a micarta piece with layers of color going from dark to light, and then carving it.

Hey i have a question, about your electrical foundry (i know, this has no relations with the video). Can you put steel in it to forge it? I forge with charcoal, and its quite dirty and expensive... if i did an electrical forge like yours, will i be able to reach 1000 celcius ? And will the steel heat up again quickly after having forged it a bit ? Btw your video is great, keep it up

Thank You for sharing your amazing work and results. It seems to me that only external sides of the plywood are made of really good quality material, the inner layers seems to be a lower grade material, isn't it? Operating system on the computer in the basement requires activation... :)
@joshuamckown31457 жыл бұрын
Really impressive work! It would be really cool to see this done with some or all of the plys dyed different colors, or perhaps in multicolored micarta. Although micarta might be rough on your end mills. I love your videos, man!
@db-cn4cq7 жыл бұрын
What if you made a topographical map like this? The lines between the layers would be those equal altitude lines. That would be pretty cool.
@harryws35427 жыл бұрын
Awesome project! They look really interesting! It might be cool to perhaps add a layer of resin maybe an inch or so thick to have a clear flat surface that you could see the 3D model through, plus it might add to the ‘wet look’ - that is if they even need modifying, they look brilliant as they are. If this was for an exam then you a surely due top marks.

How expensive are good cnc machines like that? Or did you create that as well?
@robbiejames15405 жыл бұрын
It depends what you want. A large wood router can be £700 - £1000 (rough guesses) but to me it seems like you could make something adequate for wood for much less. A CNC mill for metal is a different matter. There is plenty of advice online about making CNC routers, if you want to try.

As a long time subscriber, I've been amazed at the progress you have made with your various projects. The amount of effort and detail you put into both your project and the making/editing of the videos is a credit to you. A+ at least ;) One thing you might want to consider is to slow down a bit with your narration, Otherwise, carry on growing and developing your artistic skills and who knows what you'll end up achieving! Both you and your parents should be very proud of your achievements as I'm sure you have already inspired many of your viewers.

I understand you were heading towards this more realistic fluid pattern and you nailed it perfectly, but honestly, picture of what you got at 1:55 looks stunning, with it's sort of not ideal geometry in a very natural color combination of plywood itself.
