I used to make these forty years ago. My sister and I used to have the best time collecting wild flowers, berries, seeds, insects, feathers, fish bones, you name it. Then we'd go about looking for ways to paint it. We used to dig and wash dirt ( silly I know, but we did it. Washing dirt gives you a very fine silt and clay. We used the clay to press the flowers and the different colors of dirt to make paint) charcoal, oak pods, etc and mix it with eggs or hot tree sap and paint them. We had an outdoor shower and two swimming pools because we loved on the lake. My parents owned a resort but we couldn't come in the house until we first showered outside. It father used our tiles to tile the outside shower. The ones we painted with tree sap lasted. There ones we didn't did not last at all. Dad would dip them in something he used to put on furniture but they still didn't last. There tree sap ones are still there. You brought back memories. We used to pretend we were ancients. We even carved out a cave into the clay of the lake bank. Which was fun until my father found out and spanked us. He said we were using it heads. That at any point the water could rise, weaken the walls and trap us in mud and water til our death. Guess what. The little cave is still there. Ducks go in there now. Because we couldn't have a cage on the lake bank we decided to cut the hair from our horses mane and tail, mix it with mud, then slam it into the tomato stakes we stole from Dad's garden to build a fort. Needless to say, we got into terrible for that too, but like I told my little sister, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission lol. Then we'd pretend we were American Indians and try to figure out how to make beads from muscle shells. I used to try to peel the mother of Pearl like later from the shells. I never did figure out how the natives did it, but I did learn that white vinegar will turn it to putty. Every time we found a rock with a hole in it we were convinced the great Cherokee Indians must have been nearby. Lol good times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. When I clicked I was sure I was going to see you dipping flowers into plaster and letting them dry. I almost didn't click. Now I'm glad I did. Thanks

Oh! Louise, I love this, it is just stunning. I have about 20 lavender bushes of 3 types in my garden and can't wait for it to come out so that I can have a go at this myself. I'll probably be rubbish at it, but I'm dying to have a go. I have looked round my garden but failed to find something worthy of having a go at. I now have my arty stuff all over the house, in draws and cupboards my husband has threatened to take my laptop and tablet away so I don't see more videos and have to go buy more stuff. I love 'stuff' and art even if I'm a d- at it. I love you videos and admire your work. Thanks again for sharing with us all. 😊💖x

I like this, great impressions of the flowers and the painting is gorgeous. I did try the coaster one, I had leafs but I also found some dried heather lol 😄 not a good idea, air holes on the heather heads but they filled in when painting. I didn't finish it cos it was a trial of getting the impression and peeling the clay off, it is good fun.

Is the clay reusable. I look forward to your videos, you have a wonderful way of explaining what you are doing, thank you. Is the clay the kiln dried clay and not the air dried clay. I have lots of air dry.
@LouiseSingletonCreations
@LouiseSingletonCreations 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Yes it’s air dry clay because that is all I could get. You can re use it as long as you store it well and don’t leave it out too long. I like to store it with a wet paper towel in there.

@LouiseSingletonCreations

Thank you so much! I will be honest with you, I tend to guess! However I’m fairly sure there is an online calculator that could give you the volume you require if you put your dimensions in.

Hello I have a tiny Luna bean sculpture (plaster) that I would like to encase in resin to preserve. It is completely dry. I’m trying to figure out if I can do this without a problem should I seal it before hand or will the resin melt it?
@LouiseSingletonCreations
@LouiseSingletonCreations 2 жыл бұрын
I think is would be fine. I would seal it first with some acrylic varnish just to avoid bubbles in the resin.
