Plaster Relief Jewellery using spoons! Full Tutorial

In this video you will learn how you can easily cast flowers and foliage to make beautiful beads for pendants using clay, plaster, flowers and measuring spoons!
I will warn you now, this art form is addictive but the good news is, its inexpensive as the clay can be reused and you can collect flowers and foliage for free.
I'm not an expert at this (as you will see from my wonky jewellery!) but I am hooked and i intend to make some more videos showing different home decor ideas and maybe incorporating some epoxy resin too!

In the 1970s I used to make “bull and matador” wall hangings with plaster of Paris and plastic moulds. I painted them and sold them for $20.. I loved working with it. Watching you make all your “stuff” brings back memories of my teenage years. 🤗

These are very sweet. I imagine the wearer would have to he careful not to bang and knock them around?? Do you find they peel at all or are they pretty durable if looked after properly?

Thank you. The stonecast plaster which I used is incredibly strong. The other day my granddaughter knocked one of my large stonecast geode slices off the wall and it really fell with a huge bang onto a wooden floor but it didn’t break. So I’m guessing that smaller pieces would be even tougher. These were an experiment and I have never made any more of them or warn them so that’s the best answer I can give but I hope it helps.

@@LouiseSingletonCreations Thanks. I have made some pretty pendants inspired by yours. I used a resin plaster which is supposed to he as tough as polyester resin. I sealed them with water based polyurethane before painting and then coating with resin. I found while sanding off some resin spills that it lifted the surface off the plaster....There wasn't good enough adhesion between the polyurethane and the plaster....not good enough to survive the bumps and knocks of pendant life!! Anyway I'm experiencing with coating the raw plaster with resin first before adding surface decoration ..(.impregnating the surface) and then recoating in resin. Hopefully I can get better adhesion and a more durable surface.

Ex-jehovah's witness a .... that was also my concern. Pre-pandemic I frequently worked weekend trade shows. I often flew to vend. TSA is not delicate or careful as they dig through boxes of jewelry. Polymer clay reinforced with bits of wire leftover from jewelry making for structural support or resin would be my only options. I would be mortified if jewelry purchased by a client shattered.
