How to CASTRATE a BIG 450LB BULL Calf : Humane Castration Using a Elastrator Tool & Rubber Band!🤠

This video is about How to CASTRATE a 450+ Pound Red Angus BULL CALF- Humanely Using a Elastrator Tool & Rubber Band! Upon doing my cattle checks I noted there was a fully intact 400-500 LB calf jumping the other calves, causing all kinds of chaos & Havoc🤣. Somehow Aaron accidentally tagged a BULL calf as a heifer calf in the spring and didn't look back until now! GOOD job AARON👍. Well needless to say I guess I have to correct this issue using a castration tool called an Elastrator & rubber band & ring. This is a humane way to castrate a calf. So with this said we have all the calves together on the side of the cattle yard which has no handling system in the immediate area. We would have to move the calf alone through three different areas and multiple gates to get it to the area with the squeeze chute. This seems too chaotic and stressful for the lil guy. We must castrate the calf humanely and as stress free as possible.
Therefore we will go and catch the calf while he is in the grain alley with the other calves around us and use an ELASTRATOR tool. The elastrator tool is a very effective and humane way to castrate a cow calf or any livestock type. The rubber bands are inexpensive and effective for castrating the bull calf on-site, without the convenience or safety of a handling system or SQUEEZE chute!😱 For those of you asking why this is being done? If it is not done the animal can become extremely aggressive if left intact. Also we do not want the animal breeding our heifer calves.
Once this is completed we will then have to gather the three PET cows from the calves area, and it's time for them to get moved to the Heifers calving area across the road. Hopefully they can help train and lead the first time calves when it comes to calving season. Once my three big girls are dropped off we then have to get the last two calves that are in the heifers area, load them on the trailer, and transport them back to the Calves lot! Lotsa wheels turning and lots to do so enough chit chat, let's pitter, patter and get at her! 🤣. Cheers 🍻
