HOW TO CATCH A PERMIT FROM THE BEACH (FF Episode 16, Season 1)

The permit is one of the most coveted sport fish in south Florida and many anglers spend obscene amounts of money and time just trying to hook into one. Well, from our experience in Palm Beach and Broward counties, it might be easier than people think to catch one of these big boys!
In this video we are going to share with you some of the tips we have discovered that have helped us land a healthy number of large permit right from the beaches of South Florida.

Permits all over the coast of Florida. I caught a 45 lbs monster permit with a 15 lbs braid. Took 1.5 hours to bring it in. It was like hooking up on a speed boat. Took almost all my line; He just woofffff took off!!! And the sounds of my reel; wow!!!! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!! Had to apply all muscle strength and slowly tighten the drag. I might of been lucky but caught it with live shrimp on the beach!!! Biggest fish and most exciting moment of fishing in my life for sure!! Ohh and what a feast afterwards!! Invited all my friends; for a fabulous dinner!! Great video thanks!

I was on the beach about an hour ago and saw your buddy catch a massive permit. He estimated it to be 45 lbs. Funny is that I saw one in front of me 15 min before. I wasn't sure on that though. But I bet with my brother it was not a jack as he said but a permit. Haha he saw it before me and told me it was a jack lol.

What do you think if 40 pounds of monofilament will work from the bridge ? This fish is a train pulling the line, rocks will cut off the line easily.

Oh up there you will probably have to go like 80 mono top shot. I know some guys that fish permit from bridges in the Keys and they use 80-100 mono and lock the drag down

I seriously doubt any stocks will be decimated by us beach bums :-) i’ve come to learn that most of the permit population hangs out offshore on reefs and wrecks. The ones that come into the beach are just a small portion of the population.
