Today's video we will show you how to catch and release Porcupines Successfully . We show to to setup a live animal trap, how to bait a Porcupine trap and how to release a Porcupine trap. We are not professionals, but we did show how to get rid of a porcupine. We were able to catch and release Porcupines using Havahart Live animal traps and Advantek Live animal traps. Hey Mona! Great to hear from you! 😀 We hear raccoons can be mean when they are release, is that true. We were dreading catching one, because we have soon on them on the property too, but so far they can stay. LOL

@@WeRmudfun They certainly can be mean once they're in the trap & you try to move it! Just like a porcupine make sure you leave the cover on the cage until you get them relocated near water (if possible), then open/dump the Trap & move fast. Sometimes their obstinate and won't come out even though they hate being in there: they like the cat food🐈‼️ They go in the traps at night oh, so it's best to keep Brandy inside. Because you'll be amazed at how large their teeth are! Good luck💛

This is really amazing and genius!!! Very educational ❤️👍 I love porcupines, they’re so cute, and I used to have a lot of them where I live, but now a bear and 5 cubs (2 older, 3 younger) living on side of house. Curious, did the porcupines move on on there own, or did the mama bear just take over? Idk, but this was really cool to see.

We caught them on our property. We called NH Fish and Game and they told where we could legally release them.

Great video and info. I have a very shameless porcupine destroying the frame around the service door to my garage. I live in a national forest. Go figure. One question and one fun fact for you. First off, how did you sex your captives? 😅 I hope very carefully. Fun fact, porcupine quills contain an antibiotic and cause serious injury or death not by infection, but by traveling into the body and hitting innards and organs. Why the antibiotics you ask? Because as was witnessed in your video, they aren't as graceful in trees as we might assume, and will stick themselves from time to time with their own quills. Thanks for the video!

Thanks Amy. As for sexing the porcupine, Pauline was wearing lipstick. LOL Actually we saw Pauline's nipples in of one the many video clips over the time period. We know it is very hard to tell the sex and wasn't that interested it trying to find out what sex the other 4 were either. 😆 We did not know about the antibiotic, but we did know the quills could travel inward. One of the things we learned at the $1000 Vet visit. Good luck with your shameless male or female.

Put a salt lick in the back 40 and Porcupines will avoid your wood siding!

@@WeRmudfun I think wood siding has salt injected to keep swelling to a minimum. If salt does not work try those apple flavored salt licks which have potassium just like that deer crack powder.

I used to trap and remove wildlife for a job, never caught a porcupine. Here in Massachusetts, relocation is not an option. The state requires extermination. I relocated everything, sorry, I have a soft spot for my critters.

We had called Fish and Game and they told where we could relocate them. We had friends who offered to exterminate them, but even after it cost us $1000 in vet bills, we still chose to just relocate them. They were doing what they do naturally, Brandi was too.
