Never been there, but heard its good. I think if they let you use floating baits try breadcrust or biscuits. If not, plenty of mashed bread about a rod length out should get something interested. Good luck with the trip. Send Mike a picture if you strike gold. Just check they let you use bread.

We use soft Avon rods. Don't cast hard, just toss the bait through the air rather than try to thrash it out with a stiff carp rod. We don't like using float controllers etc,but would rather bring the fish closer in where you see them come up for the bait .More exciting. Remember to pause until they get hold of the bait properly. Wear polarising glasses and a peaked cap.You'll see more.

Bread on the bottom, dog biscuits(soaked) on the top. Watch out for brand new specialist tips floater film in next week or so.Done yesterday. We caned them big time on old school methods and light Avon rods.

Chub, even in a river. Or try catfood biscuits soaked. You can fish them on the surface for rudd.(obviously carp eat them as well)

We aren't .The rods are Avons.I doubt there is more than 12 ounces of drag on the fish. Its just that many modern carp rods never bend much as they have such a heavy test curve.Some carp anglers just don't get to see a rod really bend, which is why we use Avon rods. Great fun, especially with small to average carp. I've had them to over 24lbs on Avons which is plenty big enough for me.

An old black reel !! Early Shimano match reel probably now out of production. Don't rush out and buy anything yet, we've had exclusive access to the new (not Shimano)4000 which is featured catching carp in a film due up this Friday(9th August 2013) featuring the new reel. It will replace our old Shimano stuff. Check our website blog for pics.

I use white wonder bread I just take a # 8 jock and just smash the bread on to the jock till it the jock and bread come together in hard bread ball! It has work for me every time!

just use the weight of the soaked biscuit.but you can buy floats for this type of surface fishing.check with your local tackle shop.

there's a type called pedigree with a golden retriever on the packet use the chum ones of those, those are the ones I use the always work.

I use Pedigree chum mixer biscuits,but to be honest the bag I got last week did not soak well, and remained hard in the centre. They normally go springy, so I'm guessing some bright spark has changed the composition. Might suit dogs, but not so good for floater fishermen.Maybe I just got a duff bag.We still caught fish, but had to side hook the baits.
