Am meatlining plugs on bottom in 100-160 ft deep water, or using downriggers flasher fly no scent or strip, spoons, plugs, all kinds of hoochies, no luck. Only jigging has been somewhat decent. Trying fishing from 30ft to bottom in same 100-160 depths. Lost a king last year on bottom back was as thick as nerf football, how big was this 🐟 estimate? Thanks for the help

Like 12 lbs I think, standard size. I like to go 90-110 ft down in 120-130 ft of water. I go hoochies / AHF and always always always add scent or a strip

Copy that, have fun during next year's run, I'll be out there in a 15' salty boat. Hopefully hooked into massive kangs

Do you add scent or tip your AHF with anything? How deep do you run it in how many ft of water?

I try meatline plugs right on bottom in 100-160ft depths or use downriggers with plug, flasher with spoon, acehi no scent or strip, and all kinds of hoochies, I'm seeing tons of fish at 34ft but am not getting any fish, but catching using jigs in 80ft water, lost one last year back was as big as need football-how big do you estimate the 🐟 to be? Thanks for the help

What would you suggest from shore, casting to their travel lane as they're just entering the estuary environment? I've considered plunking bait or just casting big jigs or spoons
@PNWBestLife2 ай бұрын
Casting a cut plug on a mooching sinker can be deadly from shore or a peer!

@@PNWBestLife and then a slow retrieve?
@PNWBestLife2 ай бұрын
@@Graceclaw Yes, but not too slow. As you retrieve it fast enough to stay off the bottom and so that the herring will spin, you will get bit by a variety of species potentially.

Try casting spoons, or buzz bombs, try to annoy them!

@kingchaser-c4t yeah that's on my list too!

Professor do you run plugs for these beasts? How far back should I be from release clip to flasher?🚤
@PNWBestLife9 күн бұрын
I do, especially in 10, but I like hoochies/AHF in 11 more. You want to run the plug near your release clip right behind the boat cause they often bite it and swim with it

Yep, all the years I fished redondo, pt defiance, area 13. 1.8-2.2 was the rule trolling for chinook. Sekiu the rule was 8” flasher with a green haze coho killer (just slays them) 32” leader of 30# ultra green. Hooked some monsters at Sekiu

Offtopic question. For winder chionnk would you get 18 lb weights or 20? I've got high performance down riggers

I go 20’s now. I don’t want to mess around. And with the bigger spools I can quickly get down to 250’ if needed
