@@Ultimateshrimpcure where can I get one of them hoodies?

Hi, just wondering I was fishing the Columbia river down by Hanford reach and there was salmon jumping all around me and not even a bite I had coon shrimp bobber set up then switched to brads wiggle wart then mag lips then worms and nothing what can I do to catch a salmon someone help me please, also I was about waist deep in river and the salmon where about 20 feet away from me. Thank you for your videos!

Could you identify the salmon species jumping?

@@Brownrambo509 could be the sockeyes? Was there current? Depth? Other people fishing?
@Ultimateshrimpcure5 ай бұрын
I’m trying to draw an image of the river, conditions and such to see how I’d approach those fish. I’m a believer that every fish is a biter but sometimes it takes early mornings or late evenings to get them to snap. 👍

@@Ultimateshrimpcure nobody else fishing and water current was slow and calm water level was very low salmon jumping left and right all day long for 3 days I tried and nothing. Thank you I’ll try anything.

Hey sir! Thank you for the instruction and detail! It's very cool that you share all of these details! I went from always buying my coonshrimp, to needing to buy a garage refrigerator;) it is a lot of fun. A question . When you use the wiggle wart are you removing the back hook to attach the spin n glow or just using the back hook. Of course I want it to dive without getting tangled. So I am assuming the back hook !Thank you I caught my first one this morning (using your cure:)
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
Great Q… I run the wiggle wart or diving plug off a sliding dropper/lead line that’s about 14” and then run a 3.5-4.5’ leader pending clarity of the water with the longer leader in clearer water

yo i have caught a couple so far suspended only one on the bottom setup
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
The largest populous of returning sockeye are off bottom. Think 5-10 foot under the surface along anywhere in the CR, they don’t just follow the shorelines 👍

Hey Keith, great video once again. Any rhyme or reason between using Anise Plus vs Pure Anise oil?
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
Years ago I always ran anise plus for steelhead and that carried over to the coon shrimp for sockeye for me. I believe the brown bottle pro cure anise will be just as effective with 5-8 drops per quart 👍

Great video one again , thank you Keith, is this fishery mainly in the lower columbia or can you target these around I5 area and above ?
@keitharcher80346 ай бұрын
I5 and upriver is a great area to target them. As I mentioned as the Columbia river drops its great fishing when you get above the tidal influx areas. The tidal influx areas are basically below I5 so anything upstream is more river like with steady flows. Look for areas the Columbia narrows as that increases the water speed pushing those fish migrating home more towards the shore lines. The Camas area is a big vast area often over looked and has great potential....

Is the salt preferable or necessary? 100% salinity for what reason? I made up a jar of coonies using your cure mix this morning. I have rock salt. Can easily add it.
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
Yes add 1/2-3/4 cup. Just want the salt as an indicator and assists in keeping the shrimp firm for longer periods of time. Be sure and flip the jar for the first 3-4 days and then weekly there after. Helps keep the formula from settling and also helps with a longer term shelf life.
@JD-ft2lr6 ай бұрын
@Ultimateshrimpcure Thanks for the quick reply!! I'll add the salt. Will be fishing them 7/1-3 and ?. Looking great so far.
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
@@JD-ft2lr perfect. Just keep flipping the jar a couple times a week. Helps keep the formula moving around in the solution, that too helps with long term shelf life and storage

I know some of the sockeyes will run up the Oregon side in high water. With the water being moderate/low this year, will the sockeye still run up the Oregon side?
@Ultimateshrimpcure6 ай бұрын
Absolutely they will. There are beaches along the Oregon side producing sockeye quite well for the bank fisherman. 👍
