Please don't ever feel bad taking a fish home to eat. Fishing is not a cheap sport/hobby and fresh fish is expensive. Just obey size and bag limits and enjoy a feed. I'm a bit over all the hoopla about catch and release.

That depends some of the limits are stupid for being to generous and some are not generous enough mostly put back the species that are struggling if you can catch ones that are not.

Cut the tail off and let them bleed out before doing anything else. Might sound cruel but if you have ever wondered what the ammonia taste is like in some of them that's the acid build up in the blood. I do it to all the ones I keep and it makes a huge difference.
