Nice I’ve got some white swim baits that I’ve been using on Macks. Gonna try my first ling and rock. This is by far the best and simplest tips on rocks and lings. Your video deserves 2 THUMBS UP!!
@AX1A Жыл бұрын
just tested your riggs and recommendations with great success- especially combining a light weight (2oz) jighead w/ white swimbaits.... caught a big rockfish the first day and a smaller one the second. Doesn't sound like much, but this is at my local spot after a literally 3 week drought!

Great video, can’t wait to get on the water and see what fish I can catch! I’ve never caught any ocean fish other than surf perch, not having a boat makes it 10 times harder 😅

Boats definitely give you an advantage but there are some really good shore fishing spots out there! I’m glad you enjoyed!

Ever try Texas rig for less snags? Also do you think silver flash is good for keitechs it’s like a mix between green pumpkin and silver?
@pacificfishing6854 жыл бұрын
I have tried Texas rig and It is really nice not getting snagged but I just haven't caught the same number of fish that I have with a jighead. I think that color would be great most likelybut some days you have to try a few different colors until you find the one they like. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!

Clearlake tourney guy was using a clear swimbait. After dragging the bait thru the weeds it would stain greenish and that's what the bass wanted. White kitech looked stained. good shit

What do you say a 3 ounce P line laser Minnow Would be good?
@pacificfishing6853 жыл бұрын
That would probably be perfect. Just make sure you keep it right above the bottom so you don’t get snagged.

Yes you definitely can. Check up with your local regulations.
@bowdengodfrey17893 жыл бұрын
hey man when you say "small casting reel," how small are you talking? Will my two daiwa exceler 100 size bass reels work for catching lingcod off the rocks?
@pacificfishing6853 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would definitely work as long as you have heavy line, preferably braid with at least a 20lb mono leader. You don’t need to have a big reel to catch them from shore as long as you have heavy enough line.
@bowdengodfrey17893 жыл бұрын
@@pacificfishing685 thanks for the reply man! that's good to know about the reels. I have a 7 foot medium heavy baitcasting rod rated up to 1 oz. I know it can handle casting heavier stuff, but I'm wondering if I should go for a longer rod like an 8 or 9 footer for horsing the fish out of the rocks. any advice?
@pacificfishing6853 жыл бұрын
I think a 7 foot is fine. I’ve had no problem with a 6.5 foot rod. Thanks for the comment!

What’s your favorite tide
@pacificfishing6853 жыл бұрын
Low. I don't think the fish feed better at low tide, I just like being able to reach more spots safely.

Great video! I only really have luck for rock fish using bait on a hi-low rig, I seem to only get snagged when using swim baits... could you explain the right way to jig the swim bait. Thanks!
@pacificfishing6854 жыл бұрын
What I do when using swimsuits is a steady retrieve and let it drop every 10 seconds. You don't need to keep the swimbait right on the bottom because the fish will come up for the lure, not to mention that black and blue rockfish hang out in the middle of the water column. As long as you do the steady retrieve you should not get snagged as much unless there are lots of rock sticking up. But sometimes lures just don't work out and you have to resolve to bait. I would not count on it. Surf perch is a whole different fishery and there is a whole new set of techniques that will help you become a successful surf perch angler. If you are interested in perch fishing check out a perch video I made a few months back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4LdaYJjaah-ZpI Thanks for watching and commenting!
