You made me smile when you said you had faith in the Middy KM1 hook. I'm a great fan of the size 20 KM2 tied to .20 Browning hybrid power mono for F1 fishing with the waggler, slow sinking bubble and slow sinking feeder. Today I have broken the point and curve off 2 of the KM2's due to the massive power the F1's have at Hayton Lakes, Retford. Sadly I have to fish to the line clip to allow the line to straighten out due to line bow from the wind. When they swim from the other side of the lake with their mouths open and take your 4mm pellet the force is massive, hook lengths take a right pounding on the slow sinkers and 25 yards of line creates a massive braking effect. I commented once before on a feature you did on shotting your pole floats right down to stop missing bites. I asked why are the bites so shy on the pole yet I wait for the line to tighten when on the wag and slow sinkers. You suggested that I must be missing lots of bites by doing this. Hayton's F1's are bonkers, more rods and poles have being lost due to the strength of these mad fish. Normally we say 40 F1's are 100lbs. On Saturday I had 73 F1's on the wag and 42 today on the slow sinking feeder, mind you it's hard work! In summer you can get away with a size 18 mwg hook. Best match weight 204lbs on the wag and biggest catch 117 fish, red letter days. Thanks for your videos, regards Malc.

Hi Malc, I've never seen a hook break like that to be honest but it just goes to show how some venues have crazy fish lol.....I have a venue near me and the carp are mental compared to others in the area, every one fights like crazy and a 5lber can take a while to land because they just don't give up. Hi Scott am fishing with a size 18 hook and I have a red hollow elastic not sure what strength this is ect thought you might help?

Hi Paul, red hollow could be too strong but it depends more on your line strength rather than hook size, I will be covering it in part 2 though which I should be getting filmed one day next week.
