Hi Dan, great vids mate. Tried the shallow rig, on the 18cm lure’ but not too impressed. So, I took the rig off a Fox Rage replicant shallow and hey ho! Great improvement, had two ‘nips’ but unfortunately no takes, mind you it was sunny🤣 Now on my home made rigs I’ll be using Dinsmore’s splitshots as weights (2 @ 2.5gms) a lot cheaper than SG ‘Balls’. See how it goes, tight lines mate 👍

I find with scented baits if a pike hits it , it comes back at the lure more often. Not many people talk about this but for me it's the main reason I like scented baits. I've had pike hit a scented lure 4/5 times but if it's not scented almost never hit it a second time. Just from my experience mind you. Great video 👍

@@questfish if I'm just using small baits I look for scented ones for perch . But there's a spray bottle you can get for big lures. I can't remember the name as I haven't any left but you can get different ones. I just look for the spray bottles and pick up what ever they have in stock at the time. There handy

@@questfish Robinson soft lure spray was the last one I used. Just found it.. I've used different ones . You might not notice if you get more bites but you will notice them coming back for the same lure. My experience anyway

Good video as always. Got a silly question: what hook ( barbed,micro barb, or barbless) can be used with a lure? tried finding in on the Environmental agency site, but might aswell look for needle in haystack. Thanks

All of them can be used with lures, barbless is best less damage and you just have to keep tension on the fish thats all. Also barebless on big trebles is a great idea to avoid fat barbs getting hooked in your hand

It's minus ten where I live in Ontario, I gave dead bait a go today but nothing, the lake is starting to freeze over, so my fishing is done for the year, and I hove to say scent is my #1 must have on my soft plastic baits, the only time I don't use it is with Berkley power bait
