I love fishing the slider float very under rated method i mainly use them on deep venues i us the same floats andrew the carlusso floats and the Drake floats they make very traditional slider floats,slider float fishing has become a dying form of fishing there are so many people who don't know how to fish the slider,nice video Andrew,para

Very good Andrew, you did well getting big barbel out, but surprised when you said you couldn’t feed and play fish. Something for you to practice, in the warmer months when fish are more active 👍👏👏

Thanks. I think you said it all about feeding whilst playing the fish - not the situation to do it. I believe, I estimated the situation correctly and didn't even tried to feed; because of the angle of the rod, light line, maximum catapult's distance to extend..

Good angling there Andrew , I have found that kneeling down when bringing the fish in closer seems to reduce the chances of it bolting again , and I try to use side strain rather than overhead - a school of thought is the fish fights harder if it senses its being pulled out of the water ? don't know about that but gentle side strain and keeping low has helped me land large fish on light tackle (I think anyway) . Well done , super fish .
@AndrewsKnots
@AndrewsKnots 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, pulling fish sideways is the way to go. Much easier and quicker to get them out. In this case though, it wasn't applicable as I had some snags in the river also a sharp ledge. Cheers

A really inspiring way of fishing!! I am trying this out soon on the lower river Severn but don't have the braid yet. Which brand would you recommend? With 0.10 braid, what diameter bead would you need? In your rig instructional video you recommend a 1mm bead? Thanks!
@AndrewsKnots
@AndrewsKnots 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, about 1 mm. bore bead should do. It will all depend on the stop-knot material. Cheers.

Water will flow your boilie and pellet away from intention swim, cannot get to river bed
@AndrewsKnots
@AndrewsKnots 3 жыл бұрын
Pellets, boilies and other heavy baits will get to the bottom quicker than you think. Obviously the flow may roll them downstream a bit.. Light baits like maggots will take longer to get to the bottom and flow will roll them down faster.

Great to see the rarely used slider method, very skillful, but it wasn't good to see that barbel come in 'belly up' & stay there! we all know fish welfare is everything, especially barbel who fight to the end. I would like to have seen that fish put into recovery position in the landing net - Straight Away, before anything else, especially if you've had to play the fish 'under powered'. Important message to re-iterate correct recovery for barbel whenever possible . ' .
@AndrewsKnots
@AndrewsKnots 3 жыл бұрын
This Barbel was handled properly and swam back fully recoved even though it may look on the screen that it was pulled out of the water to take shots right away.. All in all, I know how to handle Barbel as I banked 100s of them and all went back strong. Thanks

Интересно, если глубина 3 метра, то что мешало взять болонскую удочку длинной метров 5, болонский поплавок с выставленой глубиной в 3 метра и ловить как итальянцы? Или у них не принята совсем болонская ловля? Я так понял это Англия?

using .13mm leader in a river with the really high chance of some seriously sized barbel is a dumb thing!!!!U can loose such a fish,or u have to fight the shit out of it and give a real good chance to the it to injured or die!And it's n ot that hell of a good fun neither!
