in this video i explain how to catch river zander on lures. I talk through the technique i use for summer zander, and also other considerations i make whilst choosing lures for zander.

Brilliant video loads to learn from it👍🏻 what size rod do you use for a big river? Like how big and casting weight I only have a small dropshot rod?
@luresonly Жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! All depends on what size lure I want to use mate, I tend to use an 8ft 5-20 this time of year, a fox ti pro, but in this video I was using a heavier rod as I had Texas rig set up on my other. The rod in the video is an Oz rod (Up to 28g) and 7ft, it's a custom I had built a couple years ago. Longer rods are better for zander especially when I need to cast far

Mega fish, do you find they feed better on a down tide or an up, keep meaning to get out on them with lures but never find the time for fishing.

I always believed on the outward tide but recently I've been going whenever and honestly the flood can be very good too

I tend to use a hard 16 mate or somewhere around there, mainly because it takes such a kicking in the river

In the warmer months are you looking for deeper sections of the river still or not?
@luresonly11 ай бұрын
No mate, they can be tough to catch this time of year, but you get them in the white water shallow, and generally spread out in the faster water, depth isn't that important but they do like a bit

Can You give me advice how to find out fedding Zander spot on Trent ?
@luresonly Жыл бұрын
They are pretty much everywhere, but they always sit in the same sort of features, deep rocky bottoms, edges of slacks, crease lines between current or behind structure, it's just a game of finding likely looking spots and flogging them to see if their are any around

What does the law say? Are there places where you are allowed to return Zander?
@luresonly9 ай бұрын
The club's I fish have strict rules on returning all fish, plus it's the same rules that apply to grey squirrels, and nothing is done about them
@texluh8 ай бұрын
@@luresonlygreat point. The obligation to kill grey squirrels if you have a big garden! Ridiculous and not enforced. Good to know, many thanks
