It seems rather odd that some one or organization who could afford to own and operate such a machine would have such basic tools. It would be like owning a light truck and trying to do all the upkeep with a pair of pliers, screwdriver and a rock or two.

P.S. the chances of that pinion repair are one in a million!You can't just weld up heat treated alloys and expect it to last, just the built up stresses alone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!

My thoughts Azacley, No oil or little oil, came out, When those splined wheels are turning under load & very little oil it's inevitable something has to go or break. In this case those splines,? Not being a professional Mackanic, I was glad to read your comments, God bless & Take care, 👍
