Fab tutorial Tracey, us UK bakers can’t deal with the occasional “heat wave”! Central doweling is the way forward! #cherrybrigade🍒

Could I please ask how you cut your foam core neatly as I cannot seem to achieve clean cuts without damaging it and making a mess of my disc. Thank you for your amazing videos x
@Cherrycakeco Жыл бұрын
Sure! The secret is a brand new sharp blade. If its already been used a few times it just rips chunks out of the edges instead of a clean cut. x

Every time I see one of us Americans central dowel their cakes with the hammer I wonder how stable is it really with the big flimsy board on the bottom of the cake !?! It always make me wonder where in the world 🌎 can I get some cake drums for the bottom of my cakes. Do you have any just lying around Tracey? Lol love the beginning looks of the cake can't wait to see the tutorial. Quick question do you still put supports in between each layer. 💜🍒
@Cherrycakeco2 жыл бұрын
ha ha I used to get so frustrated as back-in-the-day, the only tutorials that seem to be available were American ones, and I couldn't follow along as they were whacking it in with a hammer but we just can't do that here LOL Yes, still supports under every tier to support the weight, the central one is purely to stop sliding/hold the tiers together in a tower :D x

Can I order the drums from anywhere? I'd like to practice making the textured boards such as brick, stone, etc.. Thank you for always answering you're a gem 💎. 💜🍒

Besides the central dowel; did you put support from one tier to another so they wouldn't push down on the other one?
@Cherrycakeco8 ай бұрын
oh absolutely. I mention it as 5:27. The central dowel is just to keep the tiers secure from sliding, the individual dowels are always needed to hold weight :D x

So I did a central dowel on a wedding cake this weekend but when I saw placed the second tier the dowel poked thru at an angle. This meant the top tier was set a bit back, not centred. How can I avoid this?
@Cherrycakeco10 ай бұрын
Hi! That means your central dowel has shifted a bit when you placed the second cake on. If possible you just pull the dowel back central in the cake before placing the last tier on. If you were unable to move the dowel, that means your hole in the board your second cake is sitting on wasn't quite wide enough to add some wiggle room x

Hi Tracey, so you would transport a three tier 8 inch, 6 inch, 4 inch cake without a central dowel? I'm nervous. May I ask what's the size of the central dowel?
@Cherrycakeco9 ай бұрын
Yes! Most of my cakes dont have a central dowel as they are usually all ganache and sugarpaste covered. I have a cake delivery video if it helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYDUdaeDf7uAZ9Esi=3S2g2jMJnGtE3W9h You will want to make your central dowel to the regular height of your cakes, if I give you my measurements, and your cakes are shallower, it could pop out the top!
@job48439 ай бұрын
@Cherrycakeco Thanks so much. My cakes are IMBC then fondant. Oh, no no, I meant the diameter of the dowel, 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch...and I've just realised you said this in your video 😅. Thanks anyway!

Hi Ma'am .. i love the videos you make .. taking inspiration from you am going to participate in cake show.. need your expertise .. to clear my picture.. this is the first time i doing something big i have some queries such as how to stack a dummy cake of 4.5 height with little fondant covered and decoration with fondant figurines.. how to make it stable so that it sticks together ..since my design has some carved structure in between to give the design a meaningful word.. but confused about how to stack all these so that it won't fall. your reply will help me a lot...thank you in advance :)

What size of base 2 drums ?
@Cherrycakeco11 ай бұрын
This will depend on what size of cake you're making, and how much room you need on the board for extra details such as flowers/messages/models etc. You just want to choose your board size for your cake, and then choose one slightly smaller to hot glue underneath.

How do you cut a tall cake?
@Cherrycakeco4 ай бұрын
There is a board half way up the tall tiers, so you just cut from the top until you hit the middle board and serve all the top pieces. Remove the board and dowels from the bottom half, and then cut those :D x
