Beautiful choice of color for the table base. Such a pretty piece. Also ❤️ the idea of a swivel stool for painting.

The Reclaimed Heirloom that’s a great size swivel table. Is it for artists? Where did you purchase?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom5 жыл бұрын
Emma Pooch You are going to laugh it’s actually a old bar stool we have! If you find one just make sure the legs don’t have wheels, I found its difficult if the legs have wheels the whole piece moves around the room! 😀

Question: I have a table just like this and this is the look I want for it but the top of mine has that very orangy looking finish, can I use the same colors that you used or do you suggest another color for the wash technique? I'd like to get it in more of a gray tone as those are the colors in my decor. Thank you.
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Good question! I recommend just to sand off any of the current colour tone that you don’t like and get the table back to raw wood the best you can and use chalk paint in the colour you want maybe a Paris grey tone and start with a thin wash and build up! This should get you the new colour tone you are wanting to achieve! I also recommend having a white chalk paint available so this way you can perfect 👌 the exact colour tone you want and still maintain control if you feel the grey maybe to grey and need more highlights but still have a natural wood effect 😉🎨💙

I just found your channel! You do beautiful work. I have a question, how long do you allow the wax to dry before you put on the lacquer? I am so enjoying your videos 💕
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie! Welcome to the channel! For that piece I waited for 24 hrs for the wax to dry. For high traffic areas you can skip the wax and do a white wash and do two coats of lacquer/top coat. I find this is a better outcome. Ps if you want a more white pickled look you can add white wax anytime after you have lacquered. Thanks again for subscribing! ❤️🎨🙏

So the wax holds up well for a kitchen table that is used and cleaned often?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Weathered Memories ... so for this table project I used Annie Sloan’s lacquer varnish in matte finish just for the table top. The base I used the clear and dark wax. I recommend using a lacquer varnish for highly used kitchen table tops or anything that will be highly used. Lacquer will seal your chalk paint and protect it from more use as well as moisture. 😉🎨

So you can put a topcoat like look her over a wax??
@denisemaples25192 жыл бұрын
@@natalieramsey4091 I caught that as well. I thought wax was always the last step and if you used both, the wax would go ono er the lacquer.

I’ve sanded my table with an 80 grit but it doesn’t look nearly as light as ur finished sanded table. Can u please help?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosie! I normally will take 80 grit to remove the paint/varnish to the wood and once you get to the bare wood you can smooth it out with 120 grit and if you want smoother you can go to 220 grit. I hope this helps! 🙏🎨❤️

The Reclaimed Heirloom YES I was thinking a drop cloth canvas would be amazing! I have used drop cloths in so many ways, especially when I used to do stage backdrops! Love you videos and your works is some the best I have seen!
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Carrie Grubb ... awww 🥰 you are so kind and I really appreciate your kind words Carrie 🙏💗 Staging is tricky sometimes because you want to show your work but you want to create a setting for the viewers. But it’s also important to be original and have your style stand out. Having some imagination in your staging I find pretty important and it’s a personal preference. I guess I just prefer the whole set to be artist not just the furniture. Other may feel differently that the stage shouldn’t take away the main furniture project but when I am shopping and I see staging giving an entire room with details like a movie set it feels more inviting and it draws my eye and imagination to wanting it more than just sitting alone again a white wall. Again this is all just preference there is no right or wrong way. I hope this makes sense lol 😆
