I've replaced many cabin filters, but the Sienna had me stumped! Then your video showed you pushing in the middle of the glove box to give it more flex, and so the side pegs can clear the stop. Amazing and thank you!

I didn't know this filter existed until i read a fb thread where it was talked about. Now that I've watched your vid I will do this. May also explain why my passenger complained that whwm the heat was on this week (1st time used for 9+ months), the heat air flow on that side wasn't as strong as the driver's side. Thank you.

this was helpful, I was going by the example in the book and I've done many of these on Fords because I am a technician for Ford. but I kept getting snagged on something, that extra step of pushing "up" in the middle of the glovebox helps. I'm putting a multi-layer cabin air filter in my Sienna because I have pervasive allergies and I also like to spoil my vehicle with "nothing but the best" exception being oil: I use liquimoly (2nd best additive package) instead of amsoil because the difference is 80 dollars including the oil filter or well over 100 dollars if we include ALL filters (I.E: engine, cabin, oil, and the 6.45 quarts needed, always go 6.5 quarts cause that extra .05 ain't going to hurt nothin') I was going to change the transmission filter but determined that to be outside my skill level.

Has anyone had trouble getting the access door off? I've pulled the clips on both sides and it still won't come off. I've applied some force but I'm afraid I'm gonna break something off.
@tylerstraub2058 Жыл бұрын
Yeah mine didn’t want to come off easily either. I wedged a thin flat head screwdriver under the bottom as I pulled back on the tab (one side at a time). Used the screwdriver to lever it out. Had to wiggle and finesse a little but it came off. The filter was super dirty. Probably why the cover was stuck- lots of dirt and grime. Good luck!

I usually just get them from a local auto parts store ( Napa, O'Reilly or Auto Zone) but your cheapest option is probably to order them online.

Cabin air filters can do more harm than good. I don't live in a hermetically sealed environment, and I have minor allergies to pollen. I don't have house AC, and I live in a slightly rural area; the windows are often open. In my car, the windows are open as much as possible and are closed only when it's too hot (use AC) or too cold (use the heater). None of my earlier cars had cabin air filters, and I did not have problems. A few decades ago, car manufacturers started installing cabin air filters. These are great, especially if you live in a dusty place or you have moderate to sever allergies, in which case you probably live in a closed environment. The big problem I have with cabin air filters is that car air systems do not properly keep out vermin including deer mice. In my later cars with cabin air filters, the mice love to nest, pee, and poop on top of the cabin air filters. With Hantavirus, this is a dangerous situation. For me, it's better to remove the cabin air filter than to breath Hantaviruses. Of course, I still have to eliminate mice in my cars. Everything I read on either the internet or see on KZbin is written by folks who sell or replace cabin air filters, so they all say they are great. Nobody I've seen says, "Here are the pros and cons. It's up to you to decide."
