You forgot to mention a vertical important point at the end of the video. When removing the battery terminals, ALWAYS remove the Negative terminal first to avoid a short circuit and possible injury.

Good video, short and detailed. Only thing was use of dialectric grease should not be put on the battery terminal contact surfaces. Once it is installed and terminal is tightened down, then apply the grease or other battery protectant to external surfaces. I use Fluid Film to prevent corrosion. This procedure is for 2010-2017 Terrain and Equinox.

How on earth do you get the 10mm nut off the back of the ECM??? I'm ready to cut the screw shorter, just so I can get at it! 😥 Had to go to the store for a long 10mm socket. Then I had a heck of a time getting that last terminal off. I put baking soda & distilled water on it, but ultimately ended up using a huge pipe wrench to get it off. Then, the battery had no strap to help pull it out. Thank God my son came home and he got it out. WHEW!
@AxelTribal2 жыл бұрын
I cant seem to get one of the terminals off, I've loosened all the bolts, the one thats giving me trouble the negative terminal, the housing where the 10 mm bolt is is kinda wobbly seems like its made of several moving parts, and the bolt doesn't come all the way off. spent a solid hour trying to pull, shimmy, and twist that terminal to come off and couldn't get it any tips would be appreciated! i have a 2016 GMC Terrain

Thanks for this video. I’m wanting to clean my battery terminals not replace the battery. I only have mm wrench set but no screw gun. Will I be able to this with a wrench set? Also I’m assuming everything will get reset like the clock and radio programming?

Good video....Very much appreciated. I have a 2014 3.6 Terrain, bought new, just 36k miles on it now...lol. The oem battery lasted 4 years. I'll probably be replacing the one in it now again in the spring. Used to get 5 - 7 years out of my batteries before all this electronic crap was incorporated on the newer vehicles.
@tssci67743 жыл бұрын
These newer vehicles with higher parasitic draw require supplemental battery charging to bring the battery up to 100% charge. I typically do this twice a year, fall and winter, when discharged batteries suffer the most.
@OldSoulMillennial3 жыл бұрын
Is that necessary if you are driving the vehicle regularly? (I've never charged a car battery that I drive fequently) I could understand if the vehicle sits for extended periods of time, but with frequent driving, the alternator should keep the battery topped off.

No, there is nothing you need to do. Disconnecting the battery may cause you to loose your set radio stations. The car may have to "re-learn" your driving style, but this will not cause damage to anything. This is completely normal and necessary to change the battery.

Audrey Taylor you can buy 12v cigarette adapter, and small battery and rear connect in the cargi area. They also have DTC adapter as well. Not a big deal, only date and time needs reset in most cases on dash.

I though it was self explanatory. There should be a 10 or 8mm fastener on the terminal. It's off to the right slightly. I think its like a wedge type fastener.

People are generally VERY impatient with videos I make. They want to learn how to do something as quick as possible. Lately I've been trying to keep videos as short as possible. Perhaps if this was a more complex disassembly, I would have found it necessary to record the process in depth. I felt that this repair was fairly simple and strait forward, so I decided to keep this video short and direct. Regardless, I hope the video was helpful. Happy Holidays!
