How to change a carburetor on A Stihl ms180c

How to change a carburetor on a STIHL MS180C. The chainsaw would stall out at full throttle so Pete tried to clean the carburetor but he’s carburetor is hard to clean because you can’t adjust the high and low idle. There’s a lot of places in the carb that you can’t get to. We decided to swap out a new Carburetor off Amazon.

Thank you so much for this straight forward, easy to follow how-to video! I bought a used MS180c and absolutely loved the power it has for such a compact size. Didn't like how all the gas leaked out when it sat, however! After the fuel line replacement didn't fix the issue I went on to the carburetor and of the videos I found, this one was exactly what I needed! Several years back, I came to the conclusion that it is cheaper and quicker to buy a replacement carb on amazon, than it is to disassemble, clean, and adjust the stock carb on all small outdoor power tools. When it starts running poorly, and the adjustment screws don't fix the problem, spend 15-20 bucks on a new one, and she'll run like brand new. Further, the new carb almost always comes with new fuel line and filter, air filter, bar oil filter, spark plug, etc. You really can't go wrong. I've replaced the carb TWICE on my Husky 125B blower in the past two months, plus several other times since I've owned it (since scrapped it in favor of Stihl BG50: lighter and stronger!). Also was tinkering around with an older Craftsman chainsaw the other day. I can attest, without a doubt, that the Stihl MS180 is by far the easiest carb to replace! It's obvious they designed this saw with ease of maintenance in mind.

With out that gasket between air box and carb you'll be replacing the cylinder like I'm doing from last guy that forget the gasket

It's hit and miss with made in China products. I have been lucky in the past with Chinese carbs as well. Take care Pete.

When stihl Comes to their senses and reasonably price there carbs. That are probably getting made in China. then more people will buy their carburetters and less people will buy them from China that’s the way it is. It’s in stihl court they can do it.

If stihl Decided to manufacture everything in western countries then there would be a good argument for that but that’s not the case. Have a good one man
