As someone who's been plagued with injection pump problems, I've been watching this and other youtube videos in order to do the work myself and have the fuel system rigged the way I want it. Thank you, sir, for being a terrific educator.

My service manual says that it can be rebuilt. It would just make good sense to have a back-up. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great question. A diesel mechanic I know touted the benefits and reliability of this electric fuel pump. If I add a couple of T fittings and some shut-off valves, I will be able to use this pump to pull fuel out of buried hidden tanks or other fuel sources. With the old pump this is not an option. I have had several mech pumps fail over the years. I know that electric ones fail too. Which is better? Time will tell. Thanks.
@richardlandgrebe49177 жыл бұрын
one big drawback of the mech. pump, is that if the diaphragm fails you actually will induce fuel into the crankcase (not good)i prefer the electric because it is much easier to change.
@dutchmansmine90533 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking about swapping the fuel pump on my car to mech, I'm going to install a carburetor and I thought it would work better in that circumstance.

You don't need a pressure regulator. Facet Dura-Lift 40285 (Balkamp 610-2009) from Napa. 4-7 psi max. Perfect :)

Hey man i got a 1972 massey ferguson been sitting for three years i think my Lift pump is toast im going to try this theoreticly what would happen if your pump psi was too high would the excess be recirculated back into the tank or would it drown the engine or build up and break something im three days in on trying to start this thing ive bled to death tried everything my starter wont take much more electric pump sounds like a nice option

@@shanonearls6945 heh well ill tell you. I had it running once under its own power and the combination that seemed to work was first i put an electric pump on it bypassing the little pump that five people shook their head at me when said wasnt doing anything lol bench tested it and it was indeed junk 12v pump gets things moving but still nothing i cranked and bled and bled nothing so at the point of giving up i resorted to ether and as you can believe fired up instanly but wouldnt run on its own im ashamed to say two cans later all i could get was drip at 1 and 2 injector i coulndnt get to number three So i cracked it on the pump end of the line noticed i had a little more pressure on it so ether again and it fired up number three at the pump end spewing like crazy closed it off as quick as i could and it ran and i was like holy crap its running then i remembered it was a little low on oil and i thought shit i better shut it off i pulled the off and it didnt shut down then i was like oh crap then i lowered the throttle all the way down then it shut down and then it was back to the no starting then so im thinking something is sticking in the pump when put in the throttle down position so i have pumped some sea foam in to soak then the tube on the back tire popped on me and its sat there soaking forabout a month im pretty disgusted on the whole deal and i cant find any info on whether the throttle lever on the pump should have any resistance or spring tension on it besides maybe somebody fkerd with the lid and its not in the right slot inside or is it supposed to just wiggle freely i notice when its running the lever goes around to the point the rod lays against the stud and made a flat spot on the side of the threads it looks like its been that way for years but it dont look right to me you have to twist the pull off lever before you can pull it to the off position any imput is appreciated oh and lots of pecking and wishing lol here and there lol

I don't recall the brand but, I do remember buying it off of Ebay. It was a Holley style regulator that met the specs I needed(5-6psi) and it was @$12-15 bucks back then. And btw, the system is still working great after over 5 years!
