Hello Jay. That looks like a simple little job. I will probably do mine next year. I have a Hardy H2 wood heater. I installed it in 2008 also. It does a good job. Just wish I had went with the H4 heater because it would be able to hold more and bigger wood. There are a lot of options out there now to pick from. Your heater looks good to me. Catch you later buddy. Oh, by the way I like your shirt!

Bruce! Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing what model burner you have I was always curious! There are a ton of options out there now but im biased to central boiler, ive seen all the models in person and we have a local stove shop that sells them so parts and questions are right down the road lol. Glad you like the shirt lol im getting mixed reviews HAHA! See you on the next one! Hope the wife is doing ok! God Bless!

Thank you for this nice instructional video. Would if you need to do this replacement while door is hot? Seems I need to replace it at the moment.

Hmmm good question. If you have no choice but to do now while it’s heating season I don’t think that would be an issue. I’d let the machine burn down a bit maybe to like 150 degrees and keep a small fire going in way back when you do it. Keep in mind with the door open your fire is uncontrollable so I’d have almost no wood in there when you do this in case you run into any issues you don’t want the temp to exceed 185 by any means.

Going through the same thing now. The bottom latch wasn't closing and it let the fire/heat get out of control which prevented the damper door from opening to allow it to heat inside the house. I had to shut it down inside and outside and run the propane furnace. The water temp was 225 and it was boiling out the top!! Just got it cleaned with a wire wheel before it started raining. Luckily the weather is decent and I don't NEED to burn right now!!

A few suggestions: After applying the silicone and pressing the gasket in uniformly to adhere Let the silicone cure Most doors that I encounter, which is about 50 a year, do not contact the door frame in the center of the gasket; hence the gasket rolls in one direction and loses much of it’s “contact pressure” If a door is that hard to close it is not adjusted properly, in my opinion After the silicone has cured tighten the bearings to a reasonable amount of pressure and then again in a week or so as the gasket seats with the door frame

Hey there! Nice to hear from you again! I will re check it for sure! It seems to be ok! I dont have any run away fires and when the machine is idle and I open the door theres no flame so it seems to be sealing ok! I will check it out again though! Thanks for the tips! If I re do it again ill take your advice!

I have a problem where the door does not hit the gasket in the middle on three sides. It’s closer to the outside of the steel door. How can I fix that. And where are these bearings that need to be tightened. I have a 5036 central boiler classic. Thanks in advance.
@luvdogsandhorses2 жыл бұрын
@@colvillemarshall3768 No need to fix alignment Just let the silicone cure before closing door Dont get advice from Jay It’s usually incorrect For example if his door is that hard to close with a new gasket imagine how hard to open or close when cast iron is hot and “distorted “

The bottom latch on my 6048 won't latch regardless of how tight I get the nut.... I place a piece of rebar behind the latches so I KNOW they are perfectly aligned! ... any ideas?
@luvdogsandhorses11 ай бұрын
Open the door slightly and inspect the gap between the door and the door frame Slowly close the gap until just a sliver between top or bottom Are they parallel? Is the gap even ? How long since you’ve changed the door gasket ?

My bottom door latch will NOT latch no matter how tight I get the nut. I place a long piece of rebar behind the latches so I KNOW they are perfectly aligned but it still kicks out and won't seal. The bearing nut in the furnace doorway is fully to the front. Looks like I need a bottom latch... or may just go with a whole new door handle set!??

Hey Jay...was that rope kit just a standard kit or was it made for Central Boilers? I'm thinking of doing the same to mine here in the next year or 2...looks like its still in good shape, but sooner or later should probably replace it to keep a nice tight seal. Thanks for sharing....great vid. Once you were ready to start the fire I hope you used that shirt to get it going! HA!!!! lol
@HomesteadJay5 жыл бұрын
Back 40! It was a kit specifically for central boiler models not a generic kit. Yeah mine was beat up and we put so much effort into firewood I dont wanna have a air leak! HAHA I was waiting for a Patriots comment :) sometimes sports shirts are more controversial than political ones LOL! Thanks for watching!

Hey Jay know thats its been a while since you posted the video, but, do yoi happen to remember the gasket size (¾ or ⅞ of an inch) Central doesnt post the gasket size and my boilers got some nasty temperature creep.

Why don't you hammer that steel plate back so it will hang on the door studs and protect the cast iron door like is supposed to?

Its cast iron doesnt really hammer back.

Why? Theres not problem if the machine is running. Off season obv there should be something covering in the offseason!
