If any DIYer attempts this it is completely possible to change the shock strut without removing the driveshaft from the hub.

Unfortunately it's not clear what socket is used to open the shock absorber clamp
@theaustraliansellerpodcast8540 Жыл бұрын
It’s a shock absorber socket, easy to find on eBay etc… it’s a spreader to make easier to remove the base of the shock from its ‘holder’.
@ferrumignisАй бұрын
Why did you remove the entire upright/brake assembly? There is no need to do this, it can all stay attached to the lower arm.
@autodocukАй бұрын
The entire strut/brake assembly was removed for easier shock absorber replacement.
@ferrumignisАй бұрын
@@autodocuk Fair enough, though I just did this on my Polo 1.8 GTi and the strut can be removed just by compressing the spring a little.

There are a few questionable things in this video, spraying WD40 towards the brake discs for example while lubricating the ball joint bolts

What do you mean? The rubber mount needs to go under the nut?
@martinblackbird543 Жыл бұрын
@@helishskills put the spring onto the shock absorber, then put the round metal plate on, then the little donut bearing, then the chunky strut mount, then the bolt, that's the correct way, in this video they put the bolt on THEN the chunky strut mount, that is wrong
