Terrific video. Just did this job in my '04 Accord LX, and here is an addendum: 1) You can do this job (in an '04) without any tool. Lift up the ashtray cover and pull on the gear selector cover. It's snapped on. 2) You don't need to take off the gear selector piece completely. Just lift it up high enough to access the light. 3) You can use a LED light bulb, which will last forever. I got mine from superbrightleds. Part # is 74-CWHP3.

Thanks for putting this video up, my wife was nagging at me for months about fixing her shifter light and I didnt want to have to pay someone to do it.

Thanks for posting this! My wife has been trying to tell me that the gearshift light on our '03 EX is burned out, and I kept telling her "Nahhh... there was never a light in there". Guess I was wrong! ;-) Looks like I'll be changing the bulb this weekend. Thanks again!

I recently got my first car, a 2004 Honda Accord EX. I had a strong feeling something was off when I shifted gears, and there was no light. Looks like I'm right, and I'll be adding that to my list of lights to replace in my car. Thanks for this video!

Works perfect. I have a 2005 and it is just like this. Advanced Auto looked the bulb up in their systen and they said 2721 and that fit and worked fine. Thanks for this video.

I just followed this video for my 2003 Accord EX-L. I lived with no lights on the gear shift for several years but found this video and saw how easy it would be to fix. Everything looks the same except you need to disconnect the seat heater switches before lifting the chrome cover off. I could not find the Sylvania light but found a similar Phillips light at Pep Boys. 5.99 for two bulbs. It is important to remember to turn the headlights on to test the fix. I wasted half an hour because I forgot such an obvious step. Thanks for posting.

Hey kc, is your light still up and running? I have an accord 04, light just went off and it seems that 2721LL is the best fit according to sylvania's website.

+Chris CJC The Honda dealership. The bulb was cheap ... the labor was $75. I ended up watching your video , buying a pack of 10 bulbs off Amazon and doing it myself. Thanks again.

Thank you for the great video. I'm just worried about cracking the cover, then having to buy an cover panel. I went out and bought a Trim Removal Tool Set, cost about $15.00 and I bought a Sylvania Long Lift Bulb 2721 LL. I have a Honda Accord, 2003, EX, automatic. This video was a little helpful as well. It all came to together well. I was successful at changing the bulb without cracking the panel. I saved myself about $50.00 doing it myself, including the items I bought. The bulb recommended by Joe Lester didn't fit, and I had to buy another bulb, the auto store would not let me return it. Cost for 2 sets of bulbs, $13.00.

Do you think this would work for the 99 accord lx?
@krayzietrini32779 жыл бұрын
If I can suggest, any one who wants do this look for led's. The led's shine brighter and looks better. Also more colors, Look for t5 smd leds. I have a honda civic, so the size might be different compared to 6gen accord. They look a million times better than incandescent bulbs.

Will this technique work for a 2005 HONDA Civic LX model as well? I went to the dealership and they told me the part is like $12, but the labor is a bit over $100. :(
@krayzietrini32779 жыл бұрын
+annakmeneses Yes, never do it at Honda they overcharge. The process is faster and easier in 7gen civic.
