bushwood4568 Ideally, I would like to document the whole process of buying, rebuilding/restoring, testing, and riding, but right now I don't need another kart... CarsandCameras I really think you should invest in a chain guard for the engine! I can show you pictures of the aftermath of what happens when the chain breaks. It can and will destroy a chain guard and tear a hole in a Kart racing jacket / arm lol!! Plus my Son says it hurts like hell. I can't imagine what would have happened to his arm had there not been a guard. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from riding Karts as they are a lot of fun. Our family is all about Kart racing. I wish I could have found videos like yours when we first started as I didn't know much about Karts. We started with a Kart in the yard 4 years ago that turned into a Kart and a enclosed Trailer full of tires,tools and engines and racing every Weekend!!! Hopefully I will get some videos up on our Facebook and KZbin channel!
@CarsandCameras9 жыл бұрын
Sowbelly Motorsports Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate that you're looking out for my safety. Making a chain guard has been on the list of things to do for the go kart, but it's been continually put off, as we either don't have the materials to make one, or because we're making another mod. I'll be looking out for your videos!

The slack in the chain on a dirtbike is to compensate for the moving of the swingarm, but this Kart having no suspension doesnt need that, sure you dont want it super tight because it will just wear the crank bearings quicker but it doesnt need to be that loose either

I carefully use a hammer to break any welds I have, or you could clamp a vice grip tightly of the sprocket, then clamp another vice grip on the axle; then attempt to turn the axle. It differs depending on the position, but I would just try to use leverage to your advantage
