Thanks! I'd been researching on-line, and watched half a dozen other videos on liner changing...every one had a hex nut on the end of the whip.. which mine doesn't... left me entirely perplexed, until your video pointing out the set screw!!! Got it changed out today and working like a champ. Thanks

I've had hundreds of hours of welding school enjoyed every minute. When I change a liner I just lay the factory one out on the floor and place the new one along side and cut it the exact same length. Now if I can get son to stop rolling the cart over the damn thing I'd be in business.

A convenient way to clean mig gun liners is to get some solvent in a aerosol can. Brake clean or contact cleaner or similar remove the little spray nozzle and press the end of pressure pak can directly onto the end of the liner. Keep pressure on until the gunk is gone and clean fluid comes out the end works best if the plastic coating extends a good way down the liner. Great videos thanks

Thanks Bob! I recently purchased a vintage Miller 200 and every once in a while I'd get some gnarly porosity until, finally, it just wouldn't weld at all anymore. The two O-rings on the end of the whip weren't in great shape so swapped them out but the porosity issue remained. After much hunting, it turns out the gas wasn't making it to the gun at all but instead leaking backward, through the drive and into the wire spool compartment. I pulled it all back apart and noticed there wasn't any O-ring at all on the liner itself so, pulled one out of thin air somehow and slapped it in there (even though it's way too big.) That ended up being the issue but I can't think of where the o-ring could have gone. I looked the part number up for the liner that's in the whip and the product photo very clearly shows an O-ring in there so... ?? Kinda at a loss. I don't really have much time on this welder so I wonder if this is why the guy got rid of it? I mean, if you had seen what he had replaced this old Miller 200 with you'd wonder... why would someone do that!? He was the original owner.. told me he never even put it in the "high" mode. Gave me a serial number matching owners manual that's verges on museum quality along with it.. Anyways, I'm thinking a new liner is the cure to my welders woes. Thanks for the video that shows me how to get the job done!

Thanks again,Bob! I was wondering what type cleaning fluid/process you use on the liners you clean at the auto shop. Would brake cleaner work? Or would it attack any plastic coating some liners have?

Good vid. Regarding the back end of the liner that connects to the welder, whats the purpose of the threaded cap that sits over the brass end of the liner? I have a Lincoln 140C and I'm using a HTP mig gun. I've noticed that some liners, like Tweco, have an end that does not allow for my threaded end cap to be used. Is it dangerous to use a liner without the threaded brass end cap?

Bob moffatt , Mine is stuck in the case it has been on this welder a long time. , since I bought it and stuck it in the garage. I'm trying to get it ready to roll now and I solved my feed wheel problem but the cable is sticky . I know very little about this machine other than it's a very old Hobart suitcase style cc/cv. And I run it off my bob cat 225. Anyway the wire feeds great until I put it in the tube. Then it sticks a lot. I tried to pull the liner out and I cannot get it out of the outer liner , is my entire cable shot ? Thanks for any advice you can give. Btw the videos are great. !

Do I have to replace the mig liner if I go up in wire size? I bought my first mig welder. The MIG welder is currently set up for solid wire 0.6. I want to do flux core .9. I have a 0.9 tip and the .9 feeder wheel. Do I need to increase the size of the MIG wire liner, or does the mig liner that came pre-installed with .6 solid wire good for the 0.9 flux core? What liner should I use for a flux/core .9 (.035) wire?

I always blow the gun casing out with compressed air to make sure there is no dust or anything in there before I put the liner in it. This prevents any dust from contaminating your wire and causing more drag in the liner.

What causes my new mig gun to build spatter in the nozzle in a very short time? It also makes a lot of bb's for the gas process. I use mig anti spatter gel and that seems to carbon up in the nozzle as well. Running Argon and CO2 mix with 12 to 20 cfph .035 gas welding wire and proper polarity for gas welding. Can it be the brand of mig wire? Seems most is made in China these days. I have tried a tight gap and a wider one with no change. I have been mig welding for thirty years but used Tweco guns previously. I think in the month of having an HTP gun on my new Hobart Welder I have changed nozzles twice which is about as much as I have changed on my Clarke Machine (180 amp aluminum mig) and my Lincoln 100 Weldpak in total for many many hundreds of pounds of wire over the years I have been at it. Seems I have to clean the nozzle every five minutes or less and the spatter , actually some of it is as far up inside as the diffuser and is sticking hard inside the nozzle to the point it is shorting when the nozzle touches the material! This is new to me and I have no answer for why it is occurring. Thanks for any help you may have. They had no answers to it at HTP. I have ordered a conversion for the gun to the Tweco style diffuser and tips and nozzle to see if that is the answer. When measured the wall thickness of the chrome plated HTP nozzle is .043 while the Tweco measures .073 with a copper finish so I am wondering if it dissipates the heat better and would lessen the problem? I have had my lincoln weld pak 100 for 17 years, but didn't have feeding problems until maybe after 16 years of service. I only use my welder a few times out of a year, though. So, if you use your welder daily or a few times a week or a month, you may need to change your liner even sooner. Liners don't cost much, though. i bought my liner this week for $12 and change with free s/h on ebay. Other liners may cost maybe $15 and up, so keep that in mind.

I have the same issue with my tweco fusion 180 mig gun. Inserting the power block is fine. Removing though always cuts the last o-ring. I assume it expands out a little & gets caught up in the gas hole & gets nicked. No worries though. I just bought a pack of 100 o-rings for $5.

Jason, the machine you are seeing in the video is actually the 235, the 215s big brother. It will hold a full size spool and handle a full range of .045 wire. The gun, on the other hand, is from our 215.

@@7soulcraft7 I wouldn't even remember honestly. I also wouldn't recommend this brand anymore. I've tried contacting them with absolutely zero response. The rotary selection knobs are acting all wonky and my welder is almost useless at this point. I legitimately rarely EVER used it. Maybe 10 times in 5yrs. Pretty upset that I spent what I did back then and with hardly any use it now is almost useless.
