He has to be the cleanest calmest mechanic I've ever saw....I guess it helps a lot when you've got proper stuff at your fingers. Everything comes off so bloody easy.....I'd love to see the outtakes!

Great video. I've got to do the same one on my MK4 golf next week. Nasty springing noise when turning near full lock. Thanks for the guidance.

lovely video only thing i see wrong an what can make the job easier would be a strut spreader tool so as too not use a hammer u could possibly damage the steering knuckle make installation alot easier also theirs another special tool to tighten the top strut mount nut to the proper torque as too much can damage the bearing that sits in the bushing from what i read on bilsteins website

Thanks for posting! The strut mount looks identical to the MK3 cars.

Thank you for the feedback! There are a lot of different variants of mountings on such cars. To answer your question we need to know the modification of your car. Best Regards, Autodoc.

Strut top nut should be tightened to 60NM -> workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk4/running_gear_axles_steering_front_and_four-wheel_drive/front_suspension_drive_shafts/repairing_front_suspension_r32/iii_assembly_overview_suspension_strut/ How do you make it sure that it has correct tightness with an impact wrench?

Passenger side is way harder. Is that why you show driver side only?

Thank you for your comment! Replacing the opposite side will be similar. Best regards, Autodoc Team!

@@autodocuk the frame gets in the way of the cv axle. You can't slide into the knucle with it attached to the control arm. A spreader is key. You must slide the knuckle into the strut then attach it to the control arm.

Because they want to sell you parts. If you thought it was difficult, you would not attempt it yourself :)

You can do it without taking it out the entire strut. you have to lift the car up, take out the top nut so that the strut goes down, then use a suspension compressor to pull the spring down. there should be enough room to put the new parts in at the top. you can put the nut back on and tighten it from the hole the suspension goes in. I'm not sure how safe this method is compared to the other method, use more spring compressors just in case. you don't want them breaking while having your hand between the car and the strut
